Hörgsland Cottages

The room is not big and the induction cooker is slow. It is an old wooden house. There is an electric heater to heat the hot water for bathing. There will be insufficient hot water. It is fine to stay for one night temporarily. It is not recommended as a hotel to enjoy the journey.

It's not so much a hotel, it's more like a couple's bed and breakfast, but the room is still one and the hotel is no different, and each room is independent, we are going to the glacier lake the next day, but because of the late booking No room can be booked near the glacier lake, so book this one. The hotel does not have any supporting facilities in addition to the restaurant. There are no buildings around the hotel for a few kilometers. I don’t have any place to drink some wine at night. I went to the lobby and asked if I had a bar. I told me that I didn’t have a bar. But if I want to drink, they have a good beer and red wine, so I can get it in the room. It’s not bad. The breakfast was not much in the next day but it was very fine and very delicious. Individuals prefer this fine type rather than a variety of breakfasts with very poor quality. In general, it is a special and surprising facility. The surrounding environment is very beautiful.

Great hotel, like a cabin in a fairy tale, with a large green hillside in front of the house, classic continental breakfast, simple to eat.
Hörgsland Guesthouse

We were a family of 8 - three adults stayed in one cabin and the family of 5 (with 3 children 10-15 years), in another. The cabins were convenient because they had enough sleeping areas for everyone and had kitchens so we didn't have to eat out for every meal. Food in Iceland is extremely expensive!! Things that could be improved - reception/office hours weren't convenient given that the guesthouse is a bit of a distance from the important tourist sites in the area so we tended to leave before the office was open or return after it had closed. One cabin had an issue with the faucet in the shower not being clearly marked and thus it was challenging to get anything other than scalding water - but it wasn't until nearly the last day that we were able to get to the office to ask for help. The curtains are symbolic at best - during the summer you'll need eye masks since it never gets dark. One of the cabins had a mirror in the 'living room' which was very convenient so we didn't all need to use the bathroom mirror when trying to get ready for the day. It would be great if this was standard in all the cabins. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this guesthouse to others.
Adventure Hotel Geirland

Well…..we are on a 8 day tour of Iceland. Weather forced our guide to find us a room where we weren’t expecting to be. He found us a room at Adventure Hotel. So, we don’t know the cost to compare prices. The room was very large. Larger than any others on our trip. Clean and had hot water. Both very important. We had a room in the main building that could have slept 3. Plenty of storage space. Rustic and simple. Breakfast was toast, OJ, danish, cereal, ham and cheese. Definitely a continental breakfast. No hot food, which is ok. We were ok with this replacement property.

The hotel facilities are very new and the breakfast is very good. It should be the best hotel for breakfast these days in Iceland, but the location is rather off, not on the main road of Highway 1, you have to walk about 4km to the south.
