Khunyuw Hotel
3.9/516 Reviews
I stayed here 3 nights in Feb. 2019, on the same tour as another reviewer here. I also stayed on the 3rd floor. There is no mattress provided--the bed consists of two box springs, one on top of the other. Harder than sleeping on a board! I did not know that a mattress pad was available--it would have been nice if someone from Tropical Birding told us that! As it was, my arthritis was inflamed so much by the bed that I was in extreme pain every night. The staff speaks very little English. When I told them that the Internet on the 3rd floor was not working, they either didn't believe me or didn't understand me, probably a bit of both. Finally, someone interpreted for me. When the Internet is working, it is not very good, especially if other people on the floor are using it. It's too bad that this is currently the ”best” hotel in Fang.
Phumanee Lahu Home Hotel
4.2/523 Reviews
I have been to visit hill tribe areas around Chiang Mai, but I found the Phumanee Hotel and Lahu village tour to be much superior. I recommend to contact the hotel to set up a tour package; it is worth the extra expense. The hotel owner gave us a talk about her Lahu family history and the village we were about to visit. We were driven up a winding route past orange orchards to the village at the end of the road near the Myanmar border. It got less developed and more wild as we travelled further. In the village, helped prepare a meal at a village home, picked, dried and rolled out tea leaves, watched a basket weaving demonstration at another house. It was a lovely relaxed village up in the mountains. On the way back was a stop at a refreshing waterfall. If arranged, the hotel has two lovely set dinners; they were wonderful. They also setup a Thai cooking experience for us at the hotel. Our room at the hotel accommodated our family of four, so I was happy not to be split up. The hotel doesn't look impressive on the outside, but it more than makes up with the hostess, village tour, food, and hospitality.
Ton Fang Hotel
3.9/516 Reviews
Stayed here for 5 nights. The entire place, including the beds, is made of concrete. Very modern. The downside to this is that there is zero sound insulation. It is next to a main road. Every passing vehicle clearly heard. And there are bright lights outside the room - & inadequate curtains - so the light shines straight in. The combination of the two makes for dismal sleeping. I attempted to switch off the lights - but they were almost immediately turned on again. In the 5 nights stay not once was the room serviced in any way- noone entered the room to change bedding, towels, clean, add new toilet rolls, toiletries, water, etc. The are almost no facilities- no breakfast, no bar, no restaurant, no anything except a fridge with cold drinks in reception. Not even a bedside lamp. Stay elsewhere.
Gumbie House
4.7/53 Reviews
The Gumby House is an oasis with a treasure trove of sitting spots with garden views, whimsical artwork, well kept plants, and immaculate landscaping. The owners Soi and Roí are extraordinary hosts. Their warmth and kindness radiate throughout this well-tended compound. They are among the few organic farms in the area and provide jobs to local villagers. They even grow and sell their own brown rice. They are a farm to table business. All meals are beautifully presented and delicious. They serve both traditional Thai dishes as well as western meals. Soi makes her bread and they have a pizza oven for hand crafted pizzas. The coffee shop serves delicious cappuccino and other drinks. They sell gift bags of coffee, tea and other treats. There are several cottages sprinkled about with lots of privacy and opportunity to listen to the birds in peace and quiet. Their warmth compound has a pond, small infinity pool, dining areas and lots of paths to meander around. Nearby are the Fang Hot Springs, Fang, and the Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. In the park is where you can hike to the top of Thailand’s 2nd highest mountain. It’s about 2 hours from Chiang Mai and worth spending 3-4 days.

Hotel Dawa
4.4/53 Reviews
We stayed at the Dawa while on a road trip through northern Thailand. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city, quiet with ample parking and easy to access. My rooms are clean, well equipped and the value for money is unbeatable! To advice.
