Come back with me now to a time of stately good manners and attentive service and a relaxed ambiance with well spaced tables and gleaming cutlery within the dining room to........ La Fleur de Lys. We had booked fairly late so only a small bedroom was available and whilst adequate for our one night stay I would recommend ensuring a larger room if staying longer. The en suite shower room, no doubt added subsequently was compact to say the least and someone for example of the size of Boris Johnson would have struggled to use whilst dreaming up his next flawed cabinet appointment. Good quality toiletries .Tea and coffee tray in the room well equipped plus mineral water and milk in fridge. Bedding of good quality but half way through the night I realised why I much prefer duvets to confining sheets.. The room size prevented me from starring ”excellent” at the top of this review. The main reason we booked was for the dining and we were not disappointed, Interesting dishes on the menu with local produce all well presented and enjoyable. As you might expect a super choice of wines, good range by the glass and more half bottles than usual. Breakfast was promptly served and good quality ingredients. The car park is small but the most pleasant owners are well versed in its operation so can move cars around so you can extricate your car on departure without problem; the driveway is narrow and you need to approach from the far side of the road on arrival. Definitely a venue for those who prefer independent and individual to corporate hospitality, certainly not inexpensive but worth seeking out for a special occasion.

My girlfriend and I were warmly welcomed on arrival and were shown to our room (No 1) on the first floor which was extremely spacious with a large bathroom and possessed a table where we could sit in the Morning and enjoy the cereals that we had brought with us and on this subject it was a welcome bonus that a fridge was provided. All parts of the property were clean and tidy with the Reception area having an abundance of information regarding local places of interest and the transport options available. The location of the Hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the Beach and has free car parking.

David and peanut were the perfect hosts from start to finish. We arrived for a short break, a belated honeymoon and were greeted by both of them at the door. Shown to our room which was spotless. A lovely touch from David were the rose petals on the bed upon our arrival. The decor was modern with plenty of storage space. TV was better than the usual hotel ones. There was an amazon stick so we could access less mundane channels. The room was the spa room with a separate toilet and separate bathroom. An added bonus was the jacuzzi, that was so relaxing, along with a decent sized shower. Toiletries were also supplied. Would recommend to everyone to stay with David and Peanut. I stayed at the George with my son for one night, and it was everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the service was efficient and very friendly, with appropriate Covid measures in place to make us feel comfortable and safe. Everything was very clean, including our shared bathroom. Due to Covid, the breakfast room was closed, so breakfast was brought to our room, and was fine - bacon bap, croissant, etc. As you would expect from a many-roomed guest house, there was a bit of TV noise from adjoining rooms, but nothing that disturbed us, and my son enjoyed the large TV screen! A short walk from the front and reasonable prices made this an excellent choice for us.

The room is clean, there are many restaurants nearby, very convenient, the management staff is kind, the breakfast is delicious
