Hestasport cottages are not just a place to stay, it's a whole world of experience. It's a truly magical environment of a few good size traditional wooden cabins nestled on top of a hill above the village with a hot tube in the middle. We rented the biggest one and I highly recommend it for a family especially of you stay for a few days like we did. The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated, high ceilings and full of natural light. We cooked at home every evening and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. Finding the place was very easy. Like they told us, as long as you understand that the reception is not where the cottages are, not a problem at all. Communication with the management was very smooth. We too initially had booked for 2020 but had to cancel due to to covid and they graciously refunded us. Finally we managed to stay and we loved every minute of it. In the area I highly recommend to visit the 1238 The battle of Iceland museum and virtual experience, have a cold one in Retro Mathus in Hofsos, visit the stunning waterfalls of Reykjafoss, Glaumbaer traditional houses etc. We didn't do horse riding but saw a lot of riders and looked like fun. There is also white river rafting nearby. The area is so beautiful, plenty to do and staying in this stunning place is a truly authentic experience.

this is a lovely guest house located about halfway between Blonduos and Akureyri. our travel plans changed mid trip and we had to book a hotel on the fly. This one was available and what a serendipity it was! It is a five bedroom guest house located on a horse farm. We so appreciated a full kitchen which allowed us to cook breakfast. We stayed two nights as a rest stop on our trip and were able to fully rest and decompress. We visited the turf house at Glambaer just up the road, drove into Sjagafjordur to shop at the food market and also had dinner at the Hotel Varmahlid (very tasty). This guesthouse is a wonderful stop over if you are driving the Ring Road and the hot tub and clean rooms were just what we needed. There are shared bathrooms but this was not a problem for us. We just loved this place. 🥰

Beautiful place located in the middle of nature, near a small village on a lake. The cottages are super stocked and very hospitable, I absolutely recommend it! Plus in this place, 2 days ago, I saw my first Northern Lights, so it will forever remain in my heart. Daniele

This hotel seems to be operated by an old lady. After 8:00 in the evening, it is self-serviced into the hotel. In fact, it is still very good. The room is clean and tidy. The quality of nearby guests is high. The disadvantage is breakfast. It has an automatic coffee machine that is very convenient.

For the price, the location is acceptable and the self-check in was ok. The rooms are super modern and clean, no frills. Shower is excellent and the bottom rooms even had outside door that made carrying our bags inside easier. Good place to stop enroute to Diamond Circle or when coming back. Don't expect any service or anything here. They had a full kitchen though where you can cook your own stuff. Great panoramatic view from the backyard, sunset looks amazing from there.

We stayed for one night, breaking up the journey between West Fjords and Akureyri. The homes are located up a hill behind the local swimming pool and if we had stayed for longer we would have used the pool. There are also some cafes and restaurants in the town though we self-catered. The chalet is in a row of similar properties. There is easy parking and there was plenty of space inside for our needs. Some instructions for the induction hob would be helpful as it took us a little while to figure it out. Only one knife for veg prep and overall very minimally equipped. No coffee supplied. Everything was clean and the bedroom was quiet at night. No issues with anything, would recommend to people who are looking for plenty of space and privacy for a short stop. There are opportunities for hikes and horse riding in the area so it would work for a few days of exploring.
