Buenos Aires Hostels

How a hostel should be run. One of the best I've ever stayed in, in 20 years of travelling. Curtains, charger, light and a lock box for every bed. Large lockers in the room. Rooms are super spacious. They have individual safety boxes with a password in the reception area and a camera watching them so you can leave valuables. Fastidiously clean. Cleaned multiple times a day. All sheets, curtains are super clean. Many large, private bathrooms around the hostel with free soap, shampoo, conditioner. Activities almost everyday ranging from empanada and mate making to tango lessons. A wide range of common areas: 2 large, clean well stocked kitchens, a quiet room, a work room, a garden. Free water dispensers. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff 24/7. Safe because you need to buzz in every time. Someone is there 24/7. Right next to Florida Calle for money changing. Closest subway is 2 minutes away. Lots of shops, restaurants super close by. Including a really great, affordable, vegetarian self service place and a really nice restaurant with great meat where you get a discount for being a hostel customer. I stayed there initially and went back after a trip to Patagonia. They let me leave my luggage while I was in Patagonia. Sorry for the long review but having travelled a lot and stayed in many hostels, I was really impressed with how this hostel was run. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it. We had a good experience overall here, the room was nice, fluffy towels, close to shops, breakfast was very nice and good value ...But it was the staff who made our stay so great. We stayed here at the beginning and then again at the end of our 3 week trip. They booked a taxi for us arriving from the UK which was so reassuring to have in advance. They checked us in early when we arrived. Another colleague explained the currency situation- very helpful. And finally they helped us out in a bit of a crisis. My husband left his mobile in the taxi on the way to the airport when we were leaving Argentina. I called the hostel who had booked the taxi for us and the wonderful woman there contacted the driver and he came back to the airport- you never saw 2 more relieved people! Luckily we had given ourselves extra time at the airport so we were still in plenty of time. I'm so glad we stayed here rather than a hotel. The lonely planet said it was as good as a mid range hotel and it has a lot more going for it with all the help, hints and tips from the staff.

The hostel is well located, there's a subway station and the bus line that comes to the airport practically in front of it. The staff is very nice, polite and helpful, and the whole experience made me glad I stayed there. The hostel also has a lot of daily activities and the spaces are kept clean. The bedroom is pleasant, there's plently of room and the staff cleans the bathrooms more than once everyday. I really enjoyed meeting everyone I met there.

The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. I speak very little Spanish, but they speak enough English to help me with any questions, including sharing ideas of things I might do for fun. It's in a perfect location -- close to a major subway station and bus stops, very near a hip shopping area, and surrounded by cool restaurants and bars. And it is very inexpensive!

WARNING: DECEPTIVE PRICING, this place will attempt to charge you a different price at CHECK IN TIME basically forcing YOU to either cancel the booking and find alternative accommodation at the last minute (imagine arriving late at night) or pay their dishonest new price. To be clear, I have travelled All OVER Argentina for 2 months and this is the ONLY place that has tried to charge me a different price from the reservation (except minor differences in the exchange rate). There is NO excuse to charge a price different from the reservation I don't care what excuse you have, and they also had made no attempt to contact you beforehand to warn or inform you of different pricing, nor to advertise this REAL price on the booking sites nor did they clearly state such pricing 'rules and exceptions' in their policy (which they falsely claim to btw). It's simple why they don't do the above because if they did they would lose a lot of business and bookings, no one would pay double the price quoted for a hostel dorm (total rip off) when with that same pricing you can get a private room or better at another accommodation. IMPORTANT NOTE: this dishonest establishment even had the AUDACITY to charge my credit card WITHOUT my permission when i clearly stated i would pay in cash with the LEGAL currency in Argentina at the quoted price of the reservation. After I made a complaint to customer support to try to resolve the issue and get them to honor the pricing, they proceeded to try to KICK me out of the hostel saying i wasn't welcome there whilst yet again trying to get ME to cancel the booking. It's the first time this has happened in all my years of travelling, great conflict resolution skills guys, you don't deserve to work in tourism. In the end they charged my credit card (i declined the unauthorised payment) to get my booking cancelled due to non payment so they wouldn't be PENALIZED for not honouring their booking yet even more dishonest behaviour, you be the judge. My recommendation is if this happens to you just go somewhere else, make a complaint to the booking site then leave a honest review to warn unsuspecting future guests. I ended up booking a private suite somewhere else which DID HONOR their reservation pricing for basically the same price they wanted to charge me for a shared dorm, you do the maths.

I woke up to find a BEDBUG the size of a nail on me and a quick look around showed three more bedbugs near my pillow... When I went out in the corridor to wait for the reception to open, I found another bedbug crawling on the floor... When I finally talked with the reception, they initially offered to change the linen but I would still be sleeping in the same bed for the second night (NEVER going to happen)... They finally agreed to refund me and I got to spend my day getting my stuff cleaned (at my own cost). While bedbugs can occur at any location, I was very concerned by their approach to rectify the problem, which seemed very minimalist to me. I ended up having a lot of horribly itchy bites from that night and I can't believe they would have had me sleep another night in the same bed, not to mention the other beds in the dorm ( this was in one of the bigger dorm room).

Excelente! Além de super bem localizado (10m a pé da Casa Rosada, 07 minutos Puerto Madero, etc), o hostel é super limpo, quarto amplo e atendimento impécável! Fiquei apenas 01 noite e voltaria com certeza! Fui atendido por um senhor super educado e bastante prestativo. Recomendo demais!
