Located near the fun Regent;s street with lots of restaurants and bars, near the convention center and cathedral, but a bit farther away from the Riverside market etc (10-15 min walk). Staff is friendly, kitchen is really big and has everything, with lost of fridges and storage space. I booked the room for myself, it was very comfortable. They provide big towels, which is nice. No hair drier though. Right next to bus stop to airport.
This is hands down the most beautiful hostel I've ever stayed in. It's perfectly situated in the heart of Lake Tekapo town. From the restaurant on the first floor and the floor-to-ceiling windows on the second, you get stunning views of the azure Lake Tekapo. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and there's hot water available. The room itself was great, although the shower isn't completely separate from the rest of the bathroom – it just has a curtain. However, the bathroom is quite large. Overall, even though this was the most expensive accommodation on my trip, I still believe it was absolutely worth it given the spectacular views and prime location.
An absolutely fabulous place. Really playing on yhe history of the building all while still giving privacy, security and fun.
Location is super close to a variety of restaurants, cafes and take-away stores, and a general store for those forgotten small items.
Parking is free but it's a first come, first serve scenario.
I loved staying there and highly recommend to any traveler looking for a funky and reasonably priced accommodation.
Due to the season, all the hotels in the area were booked out, so I had to stay in a dormitory room in this hotel. The hotel itself is nice. The room was very small, but clean and ok for this type of room. There is a shared kitchen, rest area, as well as laundry which is great. The location is 15-20 mins walk from the town center, but it’s ok. However, the service is not good. It was the male manager who checked me in. When I asked the manager if there was a breakfast option, he laughed at my face and told me: “Girl, your room is like what, 30 bucks and you want breakfast?”. This was really rude and unacceptable. Moreover, I didn’t even mean for the breakfast to be included in the room price, but wondered if I could buy one since I don’t have much experience of living in hostels. Therefore, I deduct some point for such an arrogant behavior from the staff who represent the hotel.
I booked Haka House because it was a great rate but I also read great reviews. I wasn't disappointed. It took 5 minutes from the bus stop to walk to Haka House.. On arrival I met the duty manager, he was very friendly and checked me in quickly. My first impression on the way to the room was very clean and ithe place smelled good l. There was a shared bathroom 2 doors down from my room. In the room there was a place to store my bags the bed had a charging station and light. The bed was comfortable and I slept very very well
I stayed in a mixed dorm room for two nights. The location of Hakka House is good. The intercity bus drops you there and pick you up. Walking to Hermitage Hotel or Visitor Centre is around 15 mins or so. From Visitor Centre, you can walk to ****** Valley track or Kea Point track, each is 1 hour one way. I highly recommend ****** Valley track.
People in Hakka House usually stay for one night. In any case, for both nights, my roommates switched off the lights of the room as early as 9:30 pm. The room is too stuffy and hot as it seems that only an inch of the window is opened, probably too cold if opening the window more.
Shower room is relatively tidy (very much depends on the users) but it seems that there is only one hair dryer for the entire ground floor which is not convenient. Imagine a lady with long hair will need to use it for at least 15 mins or so and there are many ladies who need to use the hair dryer.
The kitchen is impressive. Well maintained and clean, good ventilation too.
This Hotel is part of a bar and other facilities. Bathrooms and kitchens are shared and there is only a wash basin in the room. Generally quite quiet despite music and live bands in the evening. Friendly service and about 15 minutes into the CBG by bus. A 24 hour Mcdonald's is 50 metres up the road.
Located in Methven, Big Tree Lodge Methven - Hostel is within a 5-minute drive of Opuke Thermal Pools & Spa and Methven Golf Course. This hostel is 8.2 mi (13.2 km) from Rakaia Gorge and 8.8 mi (14.1 km) from Awa Awa Rata Reserve.
Take in the views from a terrace and a garden and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access. Additional amenities at this Colonial hostel include a picnic area and barbecue grills.
Featured amenities include a computer station, express check-in, and express check-out. Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 7 guestrooms. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Bathrooms with showers are provided.
A short walk to the main town and has ample parking on the street. Check in and out were quick and easy. The room and bathroom itself was clean and comfortable. Minor note was that the sound insulation between the rooms are not as superb, so you could hear faint voices from the other room.

GGuest UserA decent hostel in a not-so-far location from the centre. The kitchen and common areas are specious enough and kept clean daily regardless of careless people that were not taught how to clean after themselves. There’s parking available free of charge which is great with an alternative to park on neighbouring streets if full. The beds are not the best, very wobbly and noisy when you turn or tried to climb up. Separate sockets and lights by each bed are great. There are lockers but you need your own bad lock. Staff was polite and friendly.
GGarth McMillanI thoroughly enjoyed my 2 nights stay. Friendly staff, nice warm clean unit with a great outlook. Bed was comfortable which isn't always the case in a Motel . A garage for my car below my unit was very handy
SsweetknellneuI just needed a place to stay for one night as a layover, so I booked a hostel close to the airport for convenience. It turned out to be a fantastic experience, so much so that I ended up booking hostels for all my subsequent trips! It was safe, clean, and super easy to get to the airport from there.
HHaha205The wifi is limited to 500MB per person, the speed is very slow, and the connection is often disconnected. There is a charity shop and a Chinese noodle restaurant next to it, which is convenient for cooking. There is a gas station next to it. It is not far from the Dahuang Supermarket.
DDave GutsellExcellent facilities, including the free shuttle bus transfer to and from the Airport direct to the motel. The food in the Restaurant/Bar is absolutely delicious including the best eggs Benedict with salmon I've ever had. The salmon was first class and thanks to your awesome chefs. Definitely the place I enjoy entering and exiting Christchurch to Australia having stayed at the Gateway Motel now 3 times.
Thank you to the Gateway Motel team ✨⭐⭐⭐⭐🌅🥂

ZZT1990The motel room is very clean, the car also has a place to park, not far from the city center, and overall is good. The only thing is that the sound insulation is not very good. We live in a small villa facing the street. The single-story glass on the second floor is a bit noisy when there is a big car. But still recommended, the Chinese at the front desk are more lax
TTracy L.I booked a house clearly stated to accommodate five adults, and this was reflected in my booking. However, the system only asked for the names of two guests, so I entered two names. Upon arrival at the reception, I was told I needed to pay an additional $35 per person for the remaining three guests per night, so I paid additional $35x3x2=$210.00. I didn’t have a choice as it’s already dark and chilly cold at Mount Cook on 13 June. It’s dangerous to drive down at 5pm, so we paid.
This was unexpected and disappointing — if the house is meant for five adults, I don’t understand why there’s an extra charge for the full number of guests I originally booked for. It feels misleading and somewhat unethical. I hope the property can clarify this policy and improve the booking process to avoid confusion for future guests.
However, I would like to express the appreciation of Trip.com hotel agent’s help.
GGuangchiguangchidehulaquanThe reason why I stayed in Fairlie was because the hotels around Mount Cook were too expensive. I couldn't book a room with more than 2,000 yuan. I simply stayed in Fairlie, which was an hour away by car. Economic leverage determines everything. This is a very typical motel, clean and tidy. It was very quiet at night, but most of the guests that day came by motorcycle. They were warming up their cars at around 6 o'clock, which was very noisy...
