The onsen and breakfast were both incredible! Breakfast was buffet style with Japanese style food and lots of different drinks. I went to the onsen both when I checked in (closes at midnight) and then again in the morning before breakfast. What a treat! Staff were also very nice! The location is phenomenal as well as it's close to the station and main attractions. Some people have said that the bed and pillows are a bit hard, but personally like it better this way as it's healthier for my back. Room is a bit older style and kind of small but I was just sleeping there anyway and so it was fine Would definitely stay again!

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right inside the train station, with the front desk on the 3rd floor of the station itself. This was a lifesaver, especially on a snowy day, as I didn't have to drag my luggage far. Downstairs, there's a bus terminal where you can catch buses to Hakkoda-san and the Aomori Museum of Art. The onsen (hot spring) is also excellent, but try to avoid the evening rush hour. After a relaxing soak, grab an ice cream from the fridge at the front desk and head to the lounge on the same floor for some juice or a beer – it's pure bliss! The service was outstanding, especially from a long-haired Japanese gentleman and a South Asian woman with glasses at the front desk. Both spoke fluent English and were incredibly helpful, practically fulfilling every request. The only minor downside was the daily housekeeping. I had a used contact lens that I'd left on the large bath towel, and the next day, it was still there, untouched. It seems the cleaning wasn't very thorough. All in all, if you're visiting Aomori, you can't go wrong with this hotel – it's a guaranteed great stay!

Had a fantastic stay at Dormy Inn Aomori Natural Hot Spring. The location is very convenient, close to Aomori Station and within easy reach of nearby restaurants and attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was cozy, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and restful. A major highlight was the natural hot spring bath—absolutely excellent for relaxing after a long day. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, with both indoor and outdoor bathing options that made the experience even better. The complimentary late-night ramen was also a great touch, adding extra value to the stay. Staff were friendly, polite, and efficient throughout. Overall, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay with great amenities and excellent value. Highly recommended when visiting Aomori!

Aside from the inconvenient location, with no direct highway access, everything else was great. Dinner was delicious, though breakfast was a bit simple. The onsen (hot spring) was fantastic, especially the unique 'Golden Hot Spring' by the sea. Soaking in it while watching the sunset was incredibly relaxing. The only downside was the large insects in the indoor hot spring, which scared many women quite a bit.

The JR bus from Hachinohe drops you right at the hotel entrance, which is super convenient, especially for independent travelers. In winter, it's best to reserve your spot for 300 JPY (JR Pass East Japan is accepted). The bus makes two 10-minute stops where you can hop off and take photos. The hotel has a charming, vintage feel to it.

Dormy Inn chain hotels rarely disappoint me, and this still holds for Hirosaki one. It is close to Hirosaki Castle rather than Hirosaki Station, but the city has a circular bus that runs every 10 min., and the bus stop for the hotel is just across the road, so it’s not a problem for those who arrive by train. The room is moderate in size by Japan business hotel standard, but it has the added benefits of offering relaxation onsens. As usual, its onsens have both open and indoor pools. This hotel also has cold water pool and sauna. You get free Yakult in the morning, ice pops in the afternoon till late evening. I recommend.

I stayed here for my first trip to Hachinohe. The downtown area is quite a walk from Motohachinohe Station, which I imagine could be tough during summer or on rainy days. However, the hotel's location is excellent, being close to the downtown area with plenty of great restaurants nearby! They offered delicious apple juice in the lobby. The room was a bit on the small side but felt very clean. Breakfast offered a great variety, and everything was delicious, including the kaisen-don (seafood rice bowl), ika-menchi (squid cutlets), and scallop fry! The hot spring bath was also wonderful, but unfortunately, I spotted a cockroach and had to get out immediately 😭. Perhaps it's unavoidable with an open-air bath, but I really wish I could have relaxed in such a nice hot spring longer – that's my only slight regret! I was also delighted that the hairdryers in the public bath were Panasonic Nanoe models! And the ice cream after the bath was delicious too.

We stayed at Asamushi Onsen (about 20mins drive from Aomori downtown) as part of our 2025 Spring trip to Aomori area, and booked Tstsumikan Onsen hotel to stay for the night. The hotel location is great. I think all guest rooms come with open ocean view. No private hot spring tub in the guest room but the large gender-specific hot spring pools are open privately to the overnight stay guests from 8PM to the next morning. The stay comes with 2 meals. The food is good and the dinner was served directly in the guest room. The next morning Japanese breakfast was served in the great tatami dinning room, and the breakfast package even comes with free coffee in the gift shop café after the meal. The staff are warm, and the service is good. My recommendation to this hotel come with no hesitation.

It is estimated that it will take about 10 minutes to walk from Asakusa Hot Spring Station. Facilities: Some are old, the air conditioner sound is particularly loud, if you mind, you should pay attention to the tatami and quilt sleep very well, it is this quilt is too short, or I sleep in fact, the back of the cushion, the cabinet seems to see the cushion and quilt, and pay attention to no bathroom, To take a bath in the public bathroom, you can soak in a hot spring (the hotel has a total of 25 rooms, don't worry about too many people, dirty or something) Health: The white socks I wore on the tatami were not dirty, but the shower faucet was a bit old and there was scale Services: The English service is an old gentleman, very tasteful, very polite, is to order the room service ~ for the Japanese, breakfast can be used for 1,500 yen, pay attention to the slippers in the room, I actually wear the shoes outside, the service staff reminded me, I don't understand the meaning, but the gesture should mean it. In general, if you want to experience traditional Japanese style, you can consider staying. There are paintings everywhere in the corridor and the atmosphere is very strong.

GGuest UserLocated near a toll road and a barbecue restaurant, this hotel offers excellent value for money. It's situated on the main road from Ao to Naixi. Although the hotel has some history, it has been renovated and is now very clean. The rooms are spacious, there's an artificial hot spring, and free parking! Overall, I give it an 8 out of 10.

FFengyuezhibianI've long admired the reputation of the Hoshino Resorts, and this was my first time staying at one of their properties. The ”Kai” series is supposedly a mid- to high-end resort hotel specializing in hot springs, but overall, I was a bit disappointed. First, the hotel's location is quite secluded, in the Owani Onsen area of Aomori Prefecture. It's relatively close to Hirosaki City, a mere 10-minute train ride away, but it's quite a distance from Shin-Aomori Station, the Shinkansen terminus, taking nearly an hour. This late September visit to Owani Onsen might have been off-season, but the temperature was pleasant, the crowds were sparse, and the hot spring village surrounding the station was tranquil. If you make a reservation in advance, the hotel's shuttle bus will pick you up at Owani Onsen Station, a roughly 10-minute ride away (though I later discovered the hotel is also a 20-minute walk, which is still quite close). But upon entering the hotel, the popularity of the Hoshino Resorts became apparent. The lobby was nearly full upon check-in, instantly diminishing the sense of tranquility. The hotel is small, but with 40 rooms, it feels much more commercialized than a traditional Japanese onsen hotel. There are no private baths, and the public baths aren't rotated, and the bathing environment is quite ordinary, with absolutely no special features. This kind of arrangement shouldn't be found in a high-end hotel focused on hot springs. I stayed two nights, with two nights and four meals. Meals rotate, as is typical at most hot spring hotels. However, the first day's meal was better than the second. Overall, the dining experience was only mid-range for this price range. Perhaps due to its proximity to the northern waters, the sashimi was decent, but the selection was mediocre. The other food was even less memorable.

OO.K. MACMy first night in Japan 2024 Trip. In a faraway county. Very peaceful. I drove there alone in the darkness. Thought that there might be very few people there. But I met so many grandmas stayed there as a large group. Met them in onsen too. Very strange experience but very touch. Can feel of aging society. The ryokan guys also booked a local izakaya for me, so I had dinner easily, no need to nervous there won’t be a seat. The Room was so nice and big. Many hidden rooms inside. Would be much better if they haven’t prepared ice water for me during early winter. (I need normal temp water or hot water) Breakfast was great Overall was great I love this place. Very relax and no tourist. I spent the morning in a small garden in front of the hotel alone. Listen to water sound. Recharged my energy.

GGuest UserMy main reason to go to Ajigasawa was to visit the Takayama Inari Shrine with its snaking Tori gates. It’s about a tenth the length and size of Kyoto’s. Found this ryokan by reviews in the area. It was a toss up between this and the nearby hotel; which turns out to be run by the same group! The ryokan shows its age. But it’s very comfortable, clean and the service, especially by Noro who used his translation app so well, was impeccable! They have map of the property in English. If you drink (alcohol), it’s available in spades! There’s unlimited snacks, water, soda, popsicles, coffee, tea and alcohol for guests. The onsen is open to public, it seemed like the whole village descends after dinner to have a dip! We spent one night: dinner and breakfast were excellent!

Ddreamcatcher68It's best to be prepared for power outages. Public toilets and water rooms are standard features of traditional Japanese B&Bs. The Japanese breakfast is good. Please note that the check-in time is before 9 pm. If you can't arrive, be sure to contact the owner in advance. The B&B is on the mountain, so be careful when driving at night. There are no street lights.

GGuest UserBreakfast and dinner are divided into Japanese and Western styles. Dinner is very ceremonial, especially French food. The hotel is very close to the ski resort and Suantang Hot Spring, and there is a shuttle bus. The restaurant has a good view. It is very pleasant to sit in the warm restaurant, drink hot coffee, and look at the snow outside.
