When I booked the hotel, I specifically requested a high floor. The standard check-in time was 3 PM, and our family of three arrived around 3:45 PM to check in. To my surprise, the front desk attendant, a tall Japanese man wearing glasses, assigned us a room on the lowest possible floor, the second floor. I communicated with him for about ten minutes, reiterating our request for a high floor. The front desk attendant was very arrogant, claiming that our reservation didn't show any request for a high floor and insisting that the hotel was fully booked for the day. He said that if we wanted a high floor, we would have to switch rooms tomorrow. Of course, we understand that high floor requests depend on the hotel's availability on the day, but this hotel has around 400 rooms, and we didn't arrive late at night. The hotel has nine floors in total; we would have been perfectly fine with a room on the 4th or 5th floor, especially since we were staying for three nights with a child. If it were just one night, we might have just put up with it. Despite our efforts, the communication was fruitless. After going up to the room, I called the front desk again to request a room change. Less than five minutes later, the same front desk attendant appeared with a room key for the 9th floor. So, we dragged our luggage and our child up to the 9th floor, only to find it was the very last room, furthest from the elevator. Later, I contacted Trip.com's customer service, who were very helpful and contacted the hotel. The next day, the front desk informed us that they could arrange a room closer to the elevator, but we had already unpacked our luggage, so we decided not to switch rooms again. The front desk then offered us a complimentary room cleaning for the day. All in all, the entire check-in process was incredibly frustrating. It felt like that front desk attendant was intentionally making things difficult for us! On a positive note, the hotel's location is excellent and convenient for getting around. The breakfast was similar to other Dormy Inn hotels, and they also offered free ramen at night. However, the dining area was extremely crowded due to group tours. The variety of hot spring baths was better than other Dormy Inn hotels, but there were no semi-outdoor baths.

As is common for Japan, the rooms are quite compact, but this hotel boasts excellent facilities. They provide Pola brand toiletries, and everything felt spotlessly clean. The public bath was also immaculately maintained. The staff were professional and courteous. Its location is a major plus, offering a very convenient walk to Kyoto Station. While the price might be a bit higher, it's absolutely justifiable for the quality and convenience offered.

The hotel's top floor boasts a fantastic large public bath and lounge, offering excellent views for watching the sunset and the city's nightscape. Plenty of dining options are available right downstairs, and the provided toiletries and skincare products are superb. Its location near Sanjo-dori is very convenient, putting you close to many modern historical buildings, including the Museum of Kyoto. Despite some slightly dated facilities, the overall experience is excellent, offering fantastic value for money. A room rate of around 400 is considered exceptional value for Kyoto.

I booked this for my parents last year, and they gave great feedback. So, this time, I booked it for my own trip. However, I didn't encounter the Chinese-speaking front desk staff my parents mentioned, but English communication was perfectly fine. The location is super convenient, right next to Kyoto Station, with a 7-Eleven just across the street. I highly recommend getting the breakfast; it's absolutely delicious! They have curry rice, oden, miso soup, and even matcha ice cream. The top floor has a free public bath, and it wasn't too crowded when I went. The hygiene was excellent, 100 times better than bathhouses in China. Room amenities are self-serve downstairs. I even borrowed a curling iron from the front desk, which required a 3000 yen cash deposit. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're traveling with seniors or children. The room size is quite generous for Japan.

The 4 nights stay at Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho Onsen Hotel was relaxing and memorable, with cozy tatami-style rooms and very clean facilities. The private onsens were excellent, and the free snacks, ramen, and matcha drinks made the experience feel extra welcoming. The location near Umekoji Kyoto Nishi Station and bus stop made getting around Kyoto convenient.

The room facilities are good, with Japanese tatami. The bathroom, washroom, and toilet are separated, but not cramped (if not, the space would be very large). The breakfast was a bit unexpected (first time traveling in Japan), it was a full salty breakfast, sashimi, soup, etc. (with a small dessert). My 10-year-old child is not used to such a breakfast, and I am not used to eating sashimi in the morning, but it is a beautiful presentation. There is no coffee for breakfast. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, which may not be the most convenient for bringing children; The service staff is very enthusiastic and polite, but their English communication skills are limited, and there are a few small things (cancelling breakfast, not cleaning the room, etc.) that need to be repeated and confirmed several times. The overall feeling is still good.

I chose this hotel for my trip to Amanohashidate. Aside from being a bit far and inconvenient without a car, everything else was fine. It offers great value for money; the decor is a bit old but very well maintained. There's just one thing I hope they can improve: when checking in, perhaps they could ask if guests need help laying out the futon. I ended up sweating after trying to put on the duvet cover myself, making my shower a bit pointless. It would be helpful to offer assistance for those unfamiliar with setting up Japanese futons.

I stayed at a Dormy Inn in Tokyo many years ago and still fondly remember their complimentary evening noodles. This trip was a bit of a nostalgic return, though I didn't expect so many people enjoying the noodles; there was a queue every night. The hotel is very close to Kyoto Station, making transportation incredibly convenient, and the breakfast spread was also excellent. While the room wasn't large, it was well-laid out and fully equipped. Check-in was a very friendly process, and self-checkout was quick and easy. The only downside was the slightly subpar cleanliness; on the day I checked in, I noticed an odd smell near the toilet, which only improved after I cleaned it myself. Also, continuous stays don't require an extra cleaning fee, which Ctrip had misleadingly suggested.

Thank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay with you! Your townhouse was very cozy and fully equipped. Comfortable house clothes, robes and slippers for any occasion (for the street, balcony, toilet and home) made our stay comfortable. The beds, although on the floor, were very comfortable. The mats felt nice and warm. The bathroom with wooden trim looks unusual and stylish. The small rock garden adds a nice accent. The Japanese-style breakfast was an interesting experience, especially the process of making soup yourself. The code entry on the door was very convenient. Thank you!

This Modern Ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The room, corridors and dinning area are clean. It's good to experience this in Japan. Their Japanese breakfast set is filling. The Public bathhouse is a must try! You need to remember to read the instructions at the door before entering the bathouse as a sign of respect. They provide robes and slippers that you can use in the vicinity of the property. They also offer massage but remember to book between 1pm -10pm. Overall, it is highly recommended! You will regret booking just for a day like we did.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

GGuest UserOverall, the hotel is quite good. It's in a picturesque location, a 15-minute walk from the bus stop, but the hotel also offers a free shuttle. The rooms aren't new, but everything was comfortable. The baths are small, just big enough for 4-5 people, but there weren't many people there, so it was okay. A particularly interesting experience was cooking my own dinner. I wasn't prepared for that, but it turned out well. The breakfast was delicious. One inconvenience was that the toilets and sinks were in different locations. If your room is located further away, you'll have to walk a long way.

GGuest UserWe took a taxi to this location because it was a little too far by bus, and we had all of our luggage with us. The location is beautiful. If you're only staying for one night like we did, then you should check in at the earliest (3:00 pm) so you can explore the local area. There are some really nice shrines nearby. We were only able to do this after breakfast the next morning. We also had to be out by 10:00 am, which surprised us because it was listed as 11:00 am on Trip.com. You will be served traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They do an excellent job of presenting all of the dishes, and the service is also incredible. But if you're not used to eating raw fish, or traditional Japanese cuisine in general, you should definitely bring your own snacks to eat in your room! We stayed in the Garden view room with tatami mats. The staff will actually rearrange the room for you during dinner and set up your beds if you select this room. That was a very nice touch, so make sure you don't leave your room a total mess before dinner! I have added a picture of the beds after they were set up. The garden view was well worth the money we spent for it. Very relaxing and beautiful. And surprisingly enough...the tatami beds were super comfortable and warm!

Very quiet and private. Everything in the room are complimentary :) Room: Everything's great! Onsen in room is nice! To improve: Have more hooks/space to hang clothes will be even better. Bed is too soft to our likings. We didn't use the chair in the shower area too..

GGuest UserWe stayed at Green Rich Hotel Kyoto for two nights, and I can’t say enough good things about our experience. It was truly one of my favourite hotels — and that’s saying a lot, considering I’m a seasoned traveler who has visited 36 countries. Location: The hotel is conveniently situated about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, with multiple bus stops located right at the entrance. Getting around the city couldn’t have been easier. Service: The level of hospitality was excellent. From the front desk to the restaurant staff, everyone was attentive, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Breakfast: The breakfast buffet exceeded expectations, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Even better, it’s included in the room rate, making it exceptional value for money. Room: Although the room was not particularly large, the space was utilized very efficiently. A pleasant surprise was the massage chair in the room, which provided a wonderful way to relax after long and busy days of sightseeing. Overall, Green Rich Hotel Kyoto delivered an outstanding stay in every aspect. I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Kyoto. Bravo!

EElNinoooooooooThis hotel was recommended by a friend, and even though it's a 4-star, it's far better than some 5-star establishments. Location: Excellent. It's close to the subway and shopping malls, with various major brands right across the street. It's also near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, just a few minutes by taxi, making it perfect for getting an early start during autumn foliage season. Facilities: Well-equipped. It boasts two rooftop onsen baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The lobby offers complimentary drinks, coffee, and ice, available for self-service at any time. Cleanliness: Spotless. Environment: Very good. The rooms have a lovely Japanese style, though they are a bit small. Service: Quite good.
