We stayed at Mt. Fuji View Onsen Ooike Hotel for four days and three nights, and overall, it was a wonderful experience.
We booked a tatami-style Japanese room on the third floor with a direct view of Mount Fuji—waking up to that scenery every morning was absolutely breathtaking. The room was clean, cozy, and authentically Japanese.
The hotel has two onsens: one on the top floor and one on the ground floor. Both were clean, quiet, and relaxing. Please note they are gender-separated, It was never crowded during our visit.
Breakfast was delicious and varied, with plenty of options to start the day well. The hotel also has a souvenir shop on the first floor with reasonable prices—I wish I had bought more!
A practical plus was the laundry room. The washing machines run a disinfection cycle before each wash, which felt very hygienic. It costs 400 yen per wash, and there’s a coin exchange machine on-site.
While the price is slightly on the higher side, it’s reasonable compared to other high-end private onsen hotels in the area. Great for families or couples looking for a peaceful, scenic, and comfortable stay near Mount Fuji.
Highly recommended for: Families, couples, Fuji view seekers, onsen lovers.
The location and view are excellent, it was close to Mt. Fuji. With clear and good weather, you are able to see Mt. Fuji with a specular view. The staff provides excellent service to the quests. If I am really critical, it just doesn't have a gym room. Breakfast and dinner are great too, high quality! Highly recommended!
You can genuinely see Mount Fuji right from your bed 🗻, but there are a lot of obstructions (like cables). The hotel isn't very spacious; we booked a quad room. It's conveniently located near the train and bus stations for Lake Kawaguchiko, and you can also get back to Tokyo city from the 'Fujikyu Highland Station'.
Highland Resort & Spa Hotel is at excellent location, the express bus station from Tokyo is right by the door step. Although there is a theme park next door it didn’t seem to be open or busy. I booked a room for 3 nights with Mt Fuji view. And I was lucky enough to wake up to view of Mt. Fuji for 2 days. On the day I checked out, there was heavy snow, and I couldn’t see anything out of my window.
Hotel has a very big Onsen connected to the it which is free for hotel guest. Hotel had a few restaurants, the buffet breakfast was very good. The macron club Restaurant serves lovely Italian cuisine and a few Asian dishes. I had a very delicious lunch there.
Highland Hotel is closed to Kawaguchi Lake and Yamanakako lake.
The service was great and the location was excellent. There's a bus stop just a 2-minute walk from the hotel entrance that goes to Gotemba, which was very convenient. We stayed in a lake-view room, so we overlooked the lake. Rooms on the back side probably have views of Mount Fuji. Lake Yamanaka is quite peaceful, perfect for a relaxed trip.
Dinner was very delicious. We came to celebrate birthday, a dessert platter was prepared for us. It was thankful. A Japanese lady “Yumi”was super nice when we met her after checked out. Room is a bit small when compared with picture. The gentleman in the reception was a bit too black and white. If he could add some emotion and care it will be perfect 🤭 BTW the wine cellar in the restaurant has super nice wine but no price tag 😉
・I think it would be better if they were a little more welcoming and didn't get hung up on appearances.
・The hot water kettle has a Japanese setting, so a foreign tourist who was having trouble using it spoke to me in English and explained how to use it.
・The parking lot should be made a little easier to understand and use.
・I'm glad that my family liked the Japanese-style room, and my child said, ”I want to go to the shrine room again.”
The environment gets a perfect 5 stars just for the stunning views of Mount Fuji right from the room! You can also see it from Oike Park, which is just across the street. Plus, there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, and it's an easy walk to Kawaguchiko Station. For sunrise, it's super convenient to just walk across Kawaguchiko Bridge to the other side of the lake.
Surprisingly, there's even an outdoor onsen! I went once in the morning and once at night, and both times it was completely empty – a public bath turned private :)
As for hygiene and facilities, they were pretty standard. The room was quite sparse, and the sheets and duvet cover looked a bit old.
🏨 the ryokan turned out to be much more beautiful than i expected from what i've seen on the pictures here
🗺️ the location is great, and even though we didn't get the room with the lake view, the view was still amazing. there's also a konbini and a few cafés right next to the ryokan, so it was very convenient
🕴️the staff was kind, it was easy to communicate in english
🧖♀️ didn't attend the onsen myself, but my friends told me they liked it
⭐️ taking one star off cause the shower-head was a bit broken and the room wasn't clean enough to my taste
I'm currently staying at the Tokiwa Hotel in Kofu and I already miss it. I could feed the koi in my room, and living in the gardens was a delight. The hotel offers a shuttle to Iwa Onsen Station at fixed times, but reservations are required. I asked Ctrip to make reservations, but they couldn't get me there due to the low number of guests. Taxis are also available. It's not quite walking distance, but the ten-minute drive is enough. Upon arrival, I saw koi everywhere, along with many unique rocks and several breathtaking gardens. My room was a Japanese-style A-shaped room on the first floor, right by the water, where I could feed the koi. I loved it so much I bought four bags of fish food. When I booked the room, I didn't have a room for two meals, but I asked Ctrip to add breakfast and dinner in advance. We didn't have time to book dinner at the hotel, so we had dinner on the first floor in our room. It cost over 14,000 yen. The service and the girl who brought us to our room were very nice, friendly, and attentive. Although she didn't speak Chinese, she was very attentive and gentle, and a very nice person. The dinner was a bit average, but the Wagyu beef was delicious, and it was a pleasant and enjoyable meal in our room overlooking the gardens. Breakfast on the second floor was a bit simple, around 3,500 yen, which is not expensive. The downside is that the first floor is too close to the water, and the sound of running water is noticeable at night. Fortunately, I brought good-quality earplugs; ordinary earplugs probably wouldn't have blocked it out. The bathroom has no windows and is on the first floor, and there's a small urinal that smells a bit. However, the curtains do provide blackout shade, which is a positive comment. The large hot spring bath is excellent, with a large open-air bath. The room also has an onsen, though the pool is a bit shallow. I didn't book a meal. There's a convenience store 500 meters away, and an izakaya across the street for evening dining. You'll need to look for one at noon, as the hotel doesn't offer lunch. The lounge offers excellent coffee 24 hours a day. This was a wonderful stay for koi enthusiasts. The hotel isn't busy, but it's well-maintained. The room's flower arrangements are fresh, the hairdryer is a RefA, and there's a piggy bank to keep mosquitoes away. I'd definitely book again. It's much prettier than the Tokiwa Hotel, whose rooms are filled with artificial flowers, which is rather tacky.

GGuest UserExtremely mediocre, nothing good about it except for the nice view outside. The room was small, there was no service, and the food was unappetizing with no variety. There were also tour groups. I don't recommend it, especially since the bathroom was tiny and unclean. It's the worst onsen hotel I've stayed at in Japan.

LLina WHRoom is very spacious. I love the fact that they are very thoughful of my requests for the rooms. We had nice walks every morning around the Lake. Very strategically located near Family mart, a cafe n near location for cycles. We did not take breakfast but there plenty of options.. Lovely sunrise view from my room located at 3rd floor! Love it!
LLanshanzhijiaThe service was absolutely amazing! My only slight embarrassment was having the lovely elderly couple serving us and carrying our luggage – it felt a bit awkward for younger folks like us to just stand by and watch.
The hotel's pick-up and drop-off service was incredibly convenient. We arrived at Fujisan Kawaguchiko Station at 8 PM, used the free internet call from our Trip.com order to contact the hotel for a pick-up, and waited at bus stop #10. They even reminded us to buy some food beforehand, then call the bus, which arrived in just five minutes.
The hotel has two hot springs ♨️, and experiencing one of them was wonderfully relaxing.
We stayed in a mountain-view room. At 4:30 AM, I couldn't wait to open the curtains to see if Mount Fuji was visible, but unfortunately, it was shrouded in mist. I went downstairs and asked the staff, who said we'd be able to see it in 20 minutes. And sure enough, Mount Fuji didn't disappoint on this trip! I even met a Thai tourist who had stayed three nights, and this was their first time seeing the full view of Mount Fuji.
After check-out, the hotel's shuttle bus took us directly to our first sightseeing spot, which was very convenient. They also told us to call the hotel 40 minutes before we left, and they would deliver our luggage back to Kawaguchiko bus station. Truly thoughtful!
AAuroraBorealisMiracleThe hotel deserves an excellent mark.
The hotel is situated just a 10-minute walk from the main train and bus station. Besides this, the hotel offers a free transfer service (check the schedule first), which is also very nice. The hotel looks very clean and fresh. If you are lucky enough, you'll get a nice view of Mt. Fuji just from your room window.
What I liked the most is the Japanese spa, which is included in the accommodation package. It has different types of warm pools, including several outside the building. Please observe the admittance rules before going to the spa (e.g., no tattoos, etc.).
The room was quite spacious, with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Additionally, I would like to point out the catering. The dinner was tremendous—a really vast and versatile selection of different foods, starting from sashimi and other seafood to various types of meat, along with high-quality alcohol.
My stay at this hotel was really great. I definitely recommend this hotel.

WWinWin 小豆An unexpectedly delightful stay! The hotel facilities were incredibly spacious. The room was huge, and our mountain-view room offered views of Mount Fuji. The hotel features a hot spring bath with multiple relaxation areas, offering not only ice water but also fruit vinegar. The lobby floor has a lounge that's open in the afternoon and evening, providing a variety of snacks (dried fruits, cheese, crisps, candies), soft drinks, juices, and various alcoholic beverages. You can stargaze on the rooftop, surrounded by a spectacular 180-degree starry sky. The breakfast area has two sections, offering a wide array of breakfast items and desserts. A thoughtful touch: the front desk even calls your room before breakfast ends to remind you to eat! 👍 Furthermore, the children's play area is excellent, spanning two half-levels with balls, board games, books, a board game section, a small toy truck area, and large climbing play structures. It's truly perfect for families with children. 😍😍 I recommend checking in a bit early. 😊
