This a long story, but I will give you the abbreviated version. I arrived on Saturday, October 21st for a mining trade show that was supposed to begin on Wednesday the 25th. The property is beautiful, and my villa, number 304 overlooked the beautiful Bay of Marques. I enjoyed the restaurants, the very personalized service, and the well appointed gym. I had a group of six people joining me that arrived on Monday the 24th. By the afternoon of the 25th, we knew hurricane Otis would likely hit us, forecast to be a CAT 3 hurricane. It very quickly strengthened to a CAT 5 hurricane, the strongest to hit the Pacific coast in recorded history. Three of us rode it out in my villa. I estimate that we went through an hour and a half of 185 mph winds with gusts of 208 mph. After the worst of it passed, we made our way to the central buildings. Amazingly, one of the staff came to find us and lead the way. We were without electricity or communications for the next few days before we could leave. The GM, Ingo Brieke organized the staff and guests and made us all comfortable. The staff continued to treat us like guests and served us delicious meals and made sure we all had drinks while we made a plan of escape. We were able to finally drive out of Acapulco on Friday. I asked Ingo for a list of the staff that stayed and helped us. The heroes are - Kitchen Fernando Corona Antonio Nahum Sosa Zuñiga Eduardo Quinto Cristopher Rivera Food & Beverage Saúl Bello Adame Ulises Gallardo Jimenez Diana Astudillo Angel Uruchurtu Belauzaran Stewarding David Dorantes Marichon Obed Bobadilla Cervantes Manuel Arizmendi Flores Housekeeping Eduarrdo Aguiirre Carlos Cortez Omar Campos Engineering Juan Arizmendi Florentino Gomez Salvador Peredo Salvador Langarica Antonio Ramirez Martin Hoyua Security Azucena Lazaro Jpnathan Medel Marco Rivera Alberto Herndez Omar Sanchez Front Office Alexis Morales Miguel Sanchez Benjamin Garcia I’ll close this section by saying that the staff disregarded their own personal losses to maintain the highest level or service, safety, and comfort for their guests.
