Riu Palace Tikida Agadir

We arrived to the RIU Palace Tikida at around 11pm on the 2nd of May. We were greeted with a very warm reception and were told to leave our bags as they would be dropped off at our room. We waited until 12:30am and still no sign of our bags. I went to the reception and found them still sat there, so decided to take them to the room, as we were very tired after a long day of travelling and just wanted to brush our teeth and sleep!! The following days were pleasant the buffet food is okay… no themed food nights and was very repetitive at times, but the beef tajine was very nice at the Moroccan restaurant shame you could only go once. There is a rule you aren’t meant to reserve loungers, but it’s impossible to monitor and avoid this. We would wake up at 8am and put a towel out while going to breakfast to secure one. Not enough umbrellas for everyone either and people would steal them if you were away for more than 5mins. The only major downer on the holiday was that we received some sort of food poisoning on our second to last day. We had only eaten at the restaurants on site and were bed bound for a whole day taking it in turns to be sick. We are still unable to eat without risking a toilet trip… All the staff are very friendly and kind, but the maids are incredible and go above and beyond to clean the rooms each day!

Just returned home, grand looking hotel but needs to have its refit done. We were in a 4th floor suite, room was clean, shower screen rusty but towels were nice. No sun on any balconies that I could see any time of day as they were all enclosed. Sun beds were comfy but the wood is worn and wheels falling off. Restaurants when busy were very noisy but staff very good, saminna looked after us really well, lovely lady. Food we found poor but didn't starve, everything tasted bland. Weather was good when the sun eventually came through, we are used to waking up to the sunshine and this didn't happen alot of cloud and fog. Maybe when the refit is done we may try it again if the price was right.

Day 5 at the hotel, all the previous reviews re outdated rooms are true. The lighting inside the room where wardrobe/tea coffee station is not good, our room has a couple of missing light bulbs so that doesn’t help. Shower inside bath is not ideal, it’s a bit manky looking but it does the job. Food is average, same food at lunch and dinner, not much variety if you don’t like seafood or meat. Been eating pasta, salad and chips sometimes twice a day. The buffets are like a scrum on some days!. Sunbed situ is all true too, you can find a bed if you’re looking to find one after breakfast but all the ones in the immediate vicinity of the pool are claimed very early. Bit annoying when those folk don’t even go for a swim! As for clientele - mainly lots of French nationals and retired folk are here. Staff are all friendly and helpful, service can be patchy at times though - from lunch service (looking for somewhere to sit) waiting for bar service in the lobby ( too much yapping with customers and keeping others waiting) and front desk ( lengthy wait at check- in). The maid who cleans our room always does a great job. Had a massage in the spa which was quite nice, was charged £15 to have shellac removed from one toe (it covered a 1/6th of my big toe) so that wasn’t good considering the pedicure was about £27. Overall I’d say this is an average 4 star hotel. It was okay for a few days but now it’s getting boring, there are a few places to eat nearby (I recommend Jade) so definitely venture out if your budget permits.

Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff and so much food, it's unbelievable. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and free towels and wi-fi. The rooms are spacious, we had a sea facing one, again very clean, only negative I can comment on, are that the room towels could do with replacing, they are no longer white and quite thin. There are no lifts to your rooms so be careful and request a ground floor room. We would come again

Really enjoyed the 2nights we had here. The pool area was very clean and assessable, with plenty of late sun loungers. The food was as you would expect from such a hotel, probably would have got bored if had stayed too much longer. Room was large and had a nice balcony
