Lovely stay, nice food lots of activities but not perfect for honeymooners

The hotel is very suitable for a holiday. It has a beautiful environment, a swimming pool and a beautiful beach. It takes 15-20 minutes to drive to Knossos Palace and Museum. The staff are very warm and friendly. The breakfast is very rich. The dinner is a buffet, which is also very good. The next day There will be music and dance performances with Cretan characteristics. All in all, it is a very cost-effective hotel and the four of us are very satisfied. The only drawback is that the room facilities are a bit old and the water in the wash basin in one room is broken.

We stayed here for twelve nights. The staff is the best achivement of the hotel. At the reception, Orestis and Maria make you feel welcome and are always willing to help, with politness and a smile. At the restaurant, on the terrace, our special thanks to Maria and to Marina, who took care of us, with efficiency and kindness, contributing, every day, to make our meal time a relaxing and pleasant moment, even when we could see that they were very tired. We extend our thanks to all the restaurant staff and to Manos, at the restaurant bar, for his promptidude on helping us whenever we needed him. Also, our congratulations to the chefs and food team, for providing tasty and diversified meals. We also thank Dimitris, at the Veranda Bar, for making our evenings smoother with his niceness, drinks, and music; thanks to Mariana, at the Wet Bar, who made our afternoon cocktails with a smile, in spite of our grumpiness upon arrival. Special thanks to Irene, the guest relatins officer, (who has a smile thats lights even the rainiest day), for being so professional and so nice in caring on the satisfaction of the guests. We can not forget our smiling cleaning lady, Voula Efsevia, who kept our room tidy and spotless and everyday gave a different artistic touch to our towels on the bed and bathroom. We loved the nice note she left, along with a red rose! About the hotel: I'm sorry to say that it lacks some features to be considered a 4 star hotel. The room was plain, it had little usable place to accomodate your clothes, and small veranda too close to our front neighbours. However, the water pressure was good and so was the bed. The hotel only provided one greek night with music and dance to entertain the guests, during all our 12 days. There were two snooker tables, a pig-pong table and a play park for the children. But the location was great, next to the beach and bus stop, allowing you to explore the beautiful surrounding areas, at low prices. There were also several gift shops and supermarkets at walking distance, if one doesn't want to go further. A note for cat lovers: there are several lovely and friendly cats in the hotel, wanting to be petted. All toghether, we had a great time here, thanks to all the Marilena Hotel staff! We will be back, for sure!
