We went on a 10 day break - our first holiday with no children since our honeymoon 32 years ago! And what a place to go. From the minute you arrive the welcome is warm from the lovely staff on Reception. We spoke to Maria on arrival, who along with the rest of the front of house staff were excellent. Nothing too much trouble. Little touches with mattered - for example we had one of the ladies who service the room leave some towels on our bed in the shape of a heart with some flowers. Lovely touch. The properties are amazing, beautifully done out, we had a kitchen, fridge, washing machine and fridge freezer, a large sofa, big TV which we logged into our Netflix and Amazon accounts, and a dining room table. Outside a beautiful view - sun beds, and outside dining too. A lovely infinity pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and mini-gym with stunning views. The weather was beautiful, around 25 degrees C and clear blue skies. The only thing I would say is for someone like me with poor circulation the pool was a tad chilly, we plumped for it to be heated the last few days, but it was an extra 90 Euros a day. But worth it. Then there is the breakfast - you won't be disappointed, there is so much choice, English, Continental, Greek plus so much more. Salmon for breakfast every day! And the coffee is amazing, even decaffeinated for me. There was even Prosecco every other day! The staff. First class. Not only in their service, but the way they engage with you and turn eating a meal into an event. Wonderful people, Sofia and her team, I can't name them all, or remember all their names, but Manolis (and his sister!), Vitalis and Michalis, the young guy with them (I forgot your name!) as well as the guy on the bar (sorry forgot your name!) were a credit and a joy to spend time with, all of them. To all of you, thank you for making our holiday even more special! Be prepared on a Thursday night after dinner for some traditional Greek dancing, you have to join in, followed by a jump in the pool fully clothed with Vitalis. He will persuade you! Well, my wife, not me! Σας ευχαριστώ όλους. Neil and Teresa.
Elounda Bay Palace, a Member of the Leading Hotels of the World

We were looking for several things when we booked the Elounda Bay Palace, aside from the obvious in a 5 star hotel. (1). Good swimming - I'd give it 11 out of 10 for this. A large indoor pool, a large outdoor pool, and the best safe sea swimming ever in a sheltered sandy bay - we loved that. (2). Location - places to walk to (safely) from the hotel, no need to get a taxi or drive. 8 out of 10 for this. There are several excellent walks to explore the local area - along the pavement to Elounda village & harbour along the sea shore (turn right down the path where there's a big sign saying 'Nina's Organic House, don't continue down the main road). Also out via the causeway to the island, where there's a more challenging circular walk around a good part of the island ( some of this is on donkey tracks that donkeys would have found challenging - good footwear needed). (3) Location - a good range of local restaurants available within walking distance, plus supermarkets to buy snacks and a bottle of wine without having to pay hotel prices. 9 out of 10 for this. The Elounda area has lots of fairly well-off and well-behaved tourists (it's definitely not a cheap, noisy holiday destination) , and these tourists have generated a large number of restaurants in Elounda to choose from - at reasonable prices. (4) Also, it's really nice to have a hotel set in attractive grounds - I really love all the ancient olive trees and well-kept gardens. Yes, drinks at the hotel are expensive, and the buffet evening meal provided by half board isn't at the level of a Michelin star - but there were a very wide range of food options and we were rarely disappointed. Good food options for kids, vegetarians. The staff were friendly and helpful (our room cleaner was exceptional!), and our room was modern and well kitted out. The abandoned fortress/settlement on Spinalonga island - you can get a ferry from Elounda - is well worth a visit. We had an excellent time over a week's stay, and felt we had chosen our hotel well. Thanks to everyone at the hotel.
Phāea Blue

Blue Phaea in Crete was an exceptional stay for us, with top-tier service from start to finish. Located in a prime area, walking distance to vibrant spots, the hotel offered stunning scenery, clean facilities, and delicious food. We were here on a bit of work and a bit of pleasure. The entire staff truly went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Maria was outstanding at breakfast, always ensuring our mornings started on the perfect note. Manos, the concierge, really knew his stuff—every recommendation he made was spot-on. Dimitrius deserves special mention for helping us with a night swim in the sea, making it a memorable experience. The whole team provided 5-star service, from the bell staff to the front desk. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
Mirabella Apartments

Very relaxed apartments, private pool and view to die for. I loved the whole experience. So chilled, staff available if you need anything but are non-interfering, which I liked as have stayed in a neighbouring apartment complex and found it quite overwhelming and cliquey, if you wanted to keep to yourself. The pool area is really nice and sometimes we had the pool to ourselves. Cute little cat would pop by. Good balcony area looking at the view, essential appliances available. We ate out every day so didn't really need much. Also can't comment on the breakfast but other guests appeared to enjoy it. Fab area, easy access to Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. Nice tavernas close by. Yvonne from reception was very approachable and helpful. Only downside was leaving.
