We are glad that we booked this hotel. The beach view was breathtaking and remarkable. Not to mention its excellent location where the old town cobbled street is just right in front of the hotel. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast where they offered great selections and indeed one of the best breakfasts we've tried in our Portugal trip. Hotel staff were mostly friendly, especially those in the restaurant, except for the housekeeping staff who refused to give us extra drinking water on the next morning even before we checked out.

We stayed and chose the half board. BIG mistake!!! The dinner was like airplane food. Very tasteless , cafeteria atmosphere , desserts are horrible . Buffet style . Breakfast was much better. Rooms are very nice. Piano player was good but bar very empty and uninviting.

Parking on the entire area is completely impractical, but that's not the fault of anyone business...just worth mentioning so anyone visiting knows what to expect.
Staff was amazing, the view from the lobby and room was fantastic, and there were tons of options for food and shopping around.

Bel hôtel exceptionnellement situé. Toutes les chambres font face à l’océan avec terrasse et chaises et table. Literie confortable. Chambres spacieuses. Douches de taille appréciable. Sèche cheveux, frigo, coffre. Il y a 5 marches à franchir pour accéder à l’hôtel après 20h. Petit déjeuner très complet. Nombreux restaurants et magasin à proximité. Plage en bas de l hôtel. Ascenseur. Une cinquantaine de chambre. Personnel très courtois, souriant et à l’écoute des clients.

This was our fifth stay at the Sol e Mar and there are many reasons we keep coming back. The hotel staff are fabulous; everyone is charming and helpful (the barman found, and saved, a Scrabble tile we didn't know we'd lost). The rooms are simple but beautifully furnished and well equipped, and the bathroom has a shelf for everything. For us though, the real bonus is being able to leave the terrace door open at night and hear the waves on the shore; the layout means that all rooms / balconies are secure. Reception is at street level and the rooms are on lower floors with their backs to the cliff; nothing but the beach and sea as a view. Step out the back of the hotel and you're right on the beach and, in general, away from the bustle of Albufeira. To the front are restaurants only a short walk away. There are lovely walks along the cliff in both directions; one takes you to the marina / tour boats We've only visited somewhat off-season but I can imagine this hotel is an oasis of calm even at the summer busy times. We'll be back again

Lovely stay at the hotel, staff were very kind, left a bottle of champagne in the room for a birthday celebration. Right on the beach so was perfect,, breakfast was lovely. Location was the best, main square only a walk away. Would stay again.
