Hotels Near Loch Lomond Park Centre in Balloch

Very good value hotel, the room is large, the facilities are very good, very lucky, we are assigned to the G floor room. Breakfast is also good, there are various grades from 8.89-13.89 fat people according to their favorite point. Parking is also free, the hotel has an oversized BAR, and all in the afternoon are people. Not far from the town center, you can walk.

Wonderful setting, absolutely phenomenal food and great choices of alcoholic drinks. Will definitely be back to this establishment. Sitting on the Loch yesterday with a beer and wine looking at what a beautiful spot it really is.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a golfing trip with friends to the Open at Troon. Perfect base for the golf and Loch Lomond. Great little hotel, very good breakfast at very reasonable price, really friendly staff, comfy bed, very clean and tidy and excellent value overall. It could do with a bit of a refurb, floor squeaks and windows not double glazed means there is a little road noise, but absolutely not complaining - for the price it is a gem of a place.

We booked a weekend break with a view to staying an extra night however, we couldn’t escape quick enough. I tried to call the spa to book a spa day for my hubby and I and each time the phone range and cut off! So no spa could be booked. Let down number one! Upon arrival I checked in and was told the bill was £540?? £440 for the room and £50 per room per night “incidentals” on my card. Not a problem but why not say this instead of just expecting us to know. Let down number two! I mentioned about the spa, there was no apology and was asked if I wanted to book in there, nope that ship unfortunately had sailed. The room was spacious and comfortable enough with everything you needed, I would have expected a coffee pod machine for the price of the stay but instead a kettle and instant coffee it was, this need addressing, I understand they’re undergoing refurbishment which is fine, but let people know and price rooms accordingly. As the room looked tired with peeling wallpaper etc. The breakfast was a huge let down…. (We stayed 6 years previously and the breakfast was cooked to order!) it was on a par with a toby carvery breakfast! The station was tucked into a corner of the room so that if one person was helping themselves, nobody else could get in, leading to it being very awkward to navigate! The coffee was terrible. Not what you expect from a 5 start hotel! That was faux pas three at this point. After breakfast, We decided to check out to spa area. We walked down in our slippers and robes and was met by a young brunette girl and very rude blonde woman, who were deep in conversation about another member of staff. They didn’t stop their conversation for us but did for another woman arrived after us. After she had finished dealing with this lady she didn’t even look at us and just grunted sign in there. There was no direction as to where anything was. No warm smile or any sort of customer service! After making use of the pool and sauna we decided we’d like to sit in the jacuzzi outside…… we were just about to walk in and a young brunette girl said no you can’t go in there!!! I said I’m sorry? She said you aren’t allowed in there at 10.30am as they hold the area to “paying spa guests only” and if we wanted to go in we could after 6pm, This is where I decided to put her straight regarding the failed phone calls to book said spa and that they’d missed out on £324 for the two of us because they couldn’t be bothered to answer nor could they show us the time of day when we arrived at the reception! The attitude of both these women was unacceptable and disgusting!!! Definitely not the attitude to have when dealing with “paying” hotel guests. We weren’t staying a third night and upon check out I noticed 10% gratuities had been added to our bill! I’m not sure why, nobody served us at a table, we had to frequent the bar and carry them ourselves to our table! I couldn’t order room service from the bar this was an issue for some reason! It was supposed to be a highlight of Scottish dining. We were seated about a metre away from the bar and it was like the M6; noisy and crowded. The meals were tolerable. I couldn’t say they were great but they were ok….which is pretty much what they aspired to. We had an entree of chicken and pistachio terrine. It was quite delicious but came with 2 small slices of garlic bruschetta.My husband had the beef and had to ask for English mustard. He was presented with pretty much half the bottle. I had the lamb shoulder which was ‘slow cooked’ which seemed to be an hour because it was grissley and the skin fat undercooked. We finished with dessert, a tepid ‘hot choclate tart’ and a rhubarb crumble (with whisky anglaise ), which had no oats. Afterall we are in iconic Scotland. Service was excellent; polite and attentive staff. It was a pity the Hotel itself didn’t deliver to the same standard; attention to detail and a high standard of food.

We booked this as we knew our flight home to Glasgow Airport was landing late and we could not face the long drive home at such a time. By the time we cleared with our bags and walked to the hotel from the terminal it was 2am when we checked in. Unfortunately we were given room 115, which was opposite the elevators on the first floor. It was also not only an accessible room with wet bathroom (no shower unless you wanted to flood the whole room) but also had a ”connecting” door to the next room. No idea who was on the either side, but not ideal for either of us given our late arrival. I was feeling extremely tired and and went straight to my bed - unfortunately it was far too soft and it was a double, so we tended to fall into the middle where the ”hole” or ”dip” in the mattress was. With us both trying to sleep on the outside of the mattress for comfort we continually pulled the small duvet from each other in an attempt to keep warm after our return from Africa. The pillows were also too soft for my liking, however that was minor compared to the mattress. There hours later, at around 5am the corridor started coming alive with excited children heading off on their holidays, running and squealing, literally!! I can't blame them for being enthusiastic, but perhaps their parents might have understood that some guests might still wish to sleep at that time? Thus our morning continued so when we finally dragged ourselves up for breakfast around 9am I was extremely tired and somewhat grumpy... Now to breakfast; a fairly good selection was on offer if you came at a quiet time. I saw some guests leave towards the end our meal time as they did not want to wait in the queue for what was left. My main gripe about the breakfast was again, not the hotel's fault, but the guests, who presumably are not used to staying in hotels and don't know what swerving utensils are for. I saw one female guest pick up and touch several slices of bread and returning them before picking what she put in the toaster machine. I purposely picked a slice she hadn't pawed and waited whilst it went through the machine, then just as it arrived a young man (her son I believe) whisked it away in front of me. Manners non existent. The breakfast staff were helpful and friendly and the food on offer was perfectly adequate if all the guests knew how to behave. All in all, we picked this hotel for a catch up sleep after a late flight in and we didn't achieve that so we will not be back.

I would imagine that OAP coach parties love this hotel, but other guests may not have the same feelings. he hotel is in a superb location at the head of Loch Long, with rooms at the front having views of the ”Arrochar Alps”. It's also conveniently placed for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. That's probably the best things about the hotel. The rest is mostly mundane or worse. The hotel is a bit of a 1980's time warp in places, our room was cramped with an oversized desk and chair taking up most of the available space. Dinner is a standard menu - 3 choices for each course, some good and some not so good. Lounge bar looks like it's had a recent facelift, but the bar manager did not seem at all concerned that the lager coming out of the pump warm. Breakfast was a distinctly average buffet. Staff attitude varied from very good to uninvolved. Overall i think it's trading on its location.

The room was large and clean and the front desk reception was pleasant and helpful. The hotel lounge and dining areas were large and bright. The decor was drab and dated with extensive use of ugly carpet and wallpaper everywhere. The bizarre shower mixing valve arrangement resulted in the bath tub filling up very fast when taking a shower. The pivoting glass shower door/deflector arrangement made it difficult to impossible to keep shower spray from ending up on the bathroom floor. The bathroom door had no proper handle/latch/lock for privacy and was only held closed with a magnet. Finding parking was a horror story. All regular spots were taken and what was left was utter chaos. Everyone else had just improvised and parked wherever they could find a spot along the drive, on the grass etc... Wi-Fi did not work throughout the ENTIRE stay. The reception staff indicated that the router was likely ”overloaded”. They reset the router but it didn't help. There were no physical LAN drops in the room either. We paid 20 pounds for a breakfast that was at first non-existent (buffet style - almost empty to empty warmers). When we entered the dining area there were few people but many...most tables covered with dirty dishes, cutlery etc...After an extended wait food trickled out. In the mean time we had to search for the coffee (INSTANT coffee made en-masse). The actual food offerings were ok once they appeared but many items were reheated pre-packaged items and there were almost no heathy (fruit, plain yogurt etc...) options.
