Garbage hotels, cockroaches, and a lot of spiders. It’s not clean. Chinese people don’t come to stay. The service is very poor. It’s far from the beach and it takes an hour to rent a car.

This is a hotel on the seaside in Naze where I stayed when I visited Amami Oshima. When I entered the hotel, there was a corner on the first floor where the Misawa Akemi Memorial Museum, which is the home of her old hit song "Island Blues," was located. Apparently the owner of the hotel is close friends with Misawa Akemi, and because of this relationship, various items related to her are displayed. The hotel rooms were small and difficult to use, and since the room was facing the mountain, the afternoon sun was strong and it was a struggle. There was a large public bath on the second floor, but it wasn't very big and seemed to have been added during the renovation. It takes about 30 minutes on foot to the center of town, but there was a bus stop for the Shima Bus right next to the hotel. The breakfast was a buffet, with a wide selection of items from Amami Oshima, and it was quite good.

We stayed here as a group travelling through Japan. It was booked by our tour guide. All of the the staff were so very kind and thoughtful and did everything they could to assist us with our stay. But the hotel is quite worn and it's cheap price matches what you need to be expecting. We stayed in a traditional room which was next to the restaurant. Unfortunately there was mold everywhere in the bathroom so we didn't have a shower for two days. There were electrical cords everywhere and the fridge did not work. The other guests on the tour also had rooms that were small and very worn. The hotel restaurant gave us a bento box to take with us as we left early in the morning, this was good and so was the evening meal where they were so kind as to write what was in the buffet in our language to help us. There is a huge display in the reception area paying homage to a singer that must be from the local area. We didn't know what that was about but again we were tourists. If you are looking for somewhere basic to stay this hotel would fit that description.

The location is a little far from the center of Naze, so it is a little inconvenient to go out to a bar at night. However, since they also handle marine leisure activities such as fishing, there are many fishing equipments for sale at the shop. I also brought fishing equipment this time and fished at the pier near the hotel, but unfortunately I didn't catch anything. However, locals were catching fish like parrotfish at this pier. The rooms were as small as a business hotel, just like the Hotel New Amami where I stayed the day before, but the large (small) baths were separate for men and women, so I was able to use them without time restrictions. The restaurant is in a separate building, but you can access it from the hotel through a connecting passage, so you can move around without getting wet even on rainy days. The breakfast buffet had a limited variety of side dishes, but I had chicken rice. There were many foreign staff working at the hotel, and everyone greeted me, which was nice.

As the title says, it's far from downtown Naze, but the price is reasonable and the facilities are clean. There is a large public bath, although I didn't use it this time. The shower in the room was difficult to control the water temperature, but other than that I have no complaints. Next time I'd like to try the beer hall on the 7th floor rooftop. If you're walking to downtown Naze in the morning, I recommend taking Prefectural Route 79, even if it's a long way around. The shortest route along Naze Port has nothing to block the sunlight.

The facilities are like a normal business hotel, nothing special, but there were some subtle points. The parking lot is almost full with the company's rental car company, so it's hard to find a space, but strangely enough, there is a space in front of the rental car store. Inquiries outside of the staff's area are passed around between staff. The shower pressure is weak, and there is mysterious meat from a cup ramen that seems to have belonged to the previous customer in the drain of the bathroom. The restaurant is not tasty.
