We stayed at the Eltermere Inn a number of years ago and really enjoyed the experience. We were really looking forward to going back and were not disappointed. From the comfortable bedroom, amazing food and rustic bar with its wood burning stove, everything was as we remembered it. We checked in at 15:00 and discovered our bedroom at the top of the house was freezing. We had a word with the staff who very quickly dealt with the issue while we had a quiet drink. By the time we returned to our room it was perfectly warm. The staff were unobtrusively attentive and we heartily recommend this Inn for a stay in this beautiful corner of the Lake District.

Wow, what a fantastic place to stay, beautiful surroundings and a beautiful hotel, we stayed for one night in the doggie friendly room called great end, I could not fault it, very clean and very cheerful and helpful staff, and then there’s the food, wow again, this food was 5 star fantastic, I would highly recommend and would definitely revisit the elterwater hotel.

Had a fantastic time in trying conditions due to storm Debi . Staff totally excelled themselves especially Johnny and Chilena . Food was amazing from breakfast to Sunday lunch and evening meals . Beautiful cosy warm and friendly little gem of a hotel in a stunning part of the Lake District . Can’t wait to return

Stayed 2 nights in the Wetherlam Room, first impressions were the room was nice and spacious however the bathroom floor tiles are broken and dirty, which was not what we expected. However 7:15 Saturday morning we were woken by the very intrusive and loud sound of the kitchen extract fan being switched on, it was so loud we could not sleep and I got up and went down to the reception / bar area and complained. The receptionist did not really take my complaint seriously, did not offer to relocate us to a different room but said she would knock something off the bill. On returning on Saturday afternoon, 4PM, the extract fan was still running which made it impossible to relax in the room. Sunday morning was a repeat of Saturday morning to be honest we were glad to be leaving. I paid the bill, 15% of the room charge had been deducted but it really did not make up for the ruined weekend break. Additionally the WI-FI is intermittent, which wouldn’t have been an issue but I was following a sporting event on the other side of the world which became impossible to access. Breakfast is average to say the least, Finally the hotel location id beautiful but there are better hotels in the area

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds and views from our bedroom over two lakes. For us the staff stood out the most, so professional and extremely friendly. Any minor problems were immediately sorted without any worries. Would definitely recommend

We were in Loughrigg and it was spacious, clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. The huge bathroom and free standing bath were lovely though a bit of frosted glass to the window would be good, as it would not be spoiling any views. Staff members were friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice was reasonable. A few small touches would have bumped this hotel up to 5. The bath towels were too small and scratchy - we would expect bath sheets in this standard of hotel. The heated towel rail was not hot. The room itself was quite chilly on a gloomy day and the heating did not seem to be on. I hate having to make my own toast for breakfast and queue for use of the toaster and also we do not like having to choose a time slot to have breakfast. The bedroom above had very creaky floorboards, which is a peril of an old building but surely one a joiner could fix - it made for a very disturbed night, as the occupants did a lot of walking about! All in all the hotel was slightly disappointing but the location is excellent.

Had a couple of days at Eltermere Inn recently. I hope you find my review helpful. I will get the negatives out if the way as they were minimal. Our shower head was faulty and the shower screen was broken. The towels need an upgrade as they were very thin. The positives. Our room had a lovely view. It was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is beautiful and has access to lovely walks. It is very peaceful, no busy roads to contend with. The bird life was lovely to watch with lots of blue tits, coal tits, lesser yellowlegs and others (I don’t know the names of)! There are several peacocks which were fascinating too. The lounge area was very homely, with comfortable seating. The decor is tasteful and the view from the window is beautiful. The dinning room is tastefully decorated with comfortable seating and good table size and variety. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, yogurts, pastries, fruit juices. All this followed by a good choice of hot breakfast. We went for the ‘full Cumberland breakfast’ and it was delicious and very filling. We ate dinner at the hotel on both evenings and again we were happy with the selection offered and the food and wine was lovely. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and polite from checking in to checking out. They probably need more staff as they all worked really hard and breakfast was busy and guests can be demanding! I would definitely recommend the Eltermere. We had a lovely time and would return again in the future.

Booked for sunday lunch . First 30 minutes was a bit like Fawltey Towers. One member of staff trying to do everything (some others did appear eventually). Comfortable lounge area. Given week day lunch menu - found correct menu in bar. had to find our own table in dining room by process of elimination. Starters - very expensive and definitely not generous portions. Main courses fine . Skipped dessert as, like starters, expensive and didn’t sound that exciting. Lovely setting but I would guess staffing is an issue and lack of direction.

This hotel really wants to be a fabulous gem of a place, but there are a few things needed to put it on a higher rating. There was an abysmal wi-fi connection making it difficult to call family, plan journeys, check weather etc; slightly tired bedroom furnishings and carpet, no way to plug in a hair dryer near a mirror, ugly sink in bedroom, but no sink in the en suite. Food was good, service was friendly. Lovely setting.
