YHA Ambleside
"Small shower and toilet, noisy but okay with the price, great location but DISGUSTING service and irresponsible staffs"
Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa
Waterhead Retreat - Ground Floor, Private Entrance, Parking and Light Breakfast
"The location was ok - a short 10 minute walk to the village centre. There was no check in or staff available on-site, but they were quite quick to reply on WhatsApp. The room was nice but it wasn’t as clean as I would like (cobwebs in the corners and the fan hadn’t been moved when cleaning so when we moved it there was a lot of hairs/dirt on the floor). It wasn’t good that the hotel only told us that there aren’t enough parking spaces for all guests until after the time that we couldn’t change the booking - you play a game of roulette if you want a parking space - they can’t be reserved."
YHA Hawkshead
"The room was bit dirty, particularly the shower. Definitely bring flip flops. I felt safe throughout the experience (I am a 16 year old girl). The continental breakfast wasn’t bad (apart from the near stale bread.) Good value for money. Not too long a walk from the village."
Waterhead Rooms & Suites - Parking and Light Breakfast
"The WiFi connection was quite poor, not sure if it’s because we were at a corner room, but everything else was great, very clean and spacious room, will definitely consider again upon our next visit to the Lake District"
Windermere Rooms at the Wateredge Inn
"The location is definitely the best, but I felt the service was a bit lacking because the hotel doesn't have a proper front desk, and the hotel and restaurant are quite a distance apart. However, regarding breakfast, remember not to just eat the free dry bread; you can tell the front desk staff what you want for breakfast. Those breakfast items over 20 pounds are free, but the free dry bread might stop running before 10:00 AM."
The Waterhead Inn- the Inn Collection Group
"Great location, right next to the lake and ferries. Saw they left the bed sheet and towels on the floor for house keeping, wonder how clean it will be."
YHA Langdale
"Of all the Youth Hostels I have visited this has to be the best I have been in. A great place with fantastic views. Staff there were absolutely brilliant. Very helpful and friendly especially Will and Thomas who went out their way to make everyone there feel very welcome, so a big thank you to you both. Will be visiting there again"
Rothay Garth
"Another fantastic stay at Rothay Garth. As on previous visits couldn't be faulted"

Crow How Country Guest House
"A hidden gem hotel for those driving! Facilities: You need to carry your luggage on your own floor. The facilities are complete and well-maintained, including a hot towel rack. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. If you need housekeeping, you need to proactively hang up a cleaning sign. The bedding smelled fresh with laundry detergent. Environment: I especially loved this room. It was quiet and private, with views of the backyard garden and large lawn, where you could occasionally see lambs. Service: From check-in to check-out, it was quick and private, with minimal disturbance. I was very happy. I highly recommend the breakfast; it was super delicious! 😋"
The Britannia Inn
"We went to have a meal at the Britannia Inn at the beginning of September. It was a late summer’s evening and the seating area at the front of the pub provides a scenic view of Elterwater. I had the 6oz Cumbrian Beef Burger, which includes Smokey bacon, cheese and chips. I wasn’t disappointed and worthy of note is the fact the portion sizes are generous. My wife had the Brit Plant Burger, which includes vegan cheese and chips. She wasn’t disappointed either. The burgers are slightly more expensive than some pubs but you are in the heart of the lakes!"
Brantfell House
"This family-run guesthouse is clean and cozy. They're very talkative, so if you speak English well, you'll have a great time chatting with them. They also provide breakfast cards where you can choose your breakfast for the next day. The food is plentiful and delicious. Just indicate your breakfast time and enjoy it."
Rydal Hall Christian Retreat Centre
"We really loved our stay at Rydal hall. We stayed on a campsite near the waterfall and had a great view of fields. It was peaceful and loved that we could have our own fire. However, the toilets were a bit of a walk away and you can't park the car next to the tent. Sometimes the noise of the waterfall got in your head a bit. But that's the only negatives. We plan to come again sometime!"
Ambleside Fell rooms
"I stayed here for two nights with my 20-year-old son as we were doing day hikes in the area, after hiking the Hadrian‘s wall. It is a lovely hotel, beautifully and tastefully appointed. Our room was quite spacious and it provides everything you need, including coffee and tea for the morning. It is located steps away from the centre, so very close to all the shops. We didn’t even need a car to get to the start of a very challenging 18 km trail. It wasn’t really disturbing, but I would ask for a room on the backside of the hotel, as you can hear a little bit of traffic if you have a room facing the road. I would highly recommend Ambleside Fell Rooms."
Red Lion Inn
"We called into this lovely pub for a cold drink and food, This is a quaint old pub full of character and charm, they had a lunchtime special on of a sandwich and soup for £10 the food and soup were very tasty. Hawkshead town is very small but full of character and charm which i recommend."
New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel
"The hotel is on a mountain. From Windermere Railway Station, take 555, turn 516 and take the bus to the terminal. The scenery is picturesque and the air is fresh. The little girl at the front desk is enthusiastic and lively, and there is electric heating in the room, which is so happy for Britain, which often has rainy days. The food is great, the steak is delicious, and you can actually drink Guinness."
Great Langdale Bunkhouse Hostel
"I usually stay on the campsite or at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel when in Great Langdale. But with it being December, a tad chilly for camping and also the ODG hotel shut for Xmas, I gave this place a try. I had thoroughly read the website and knew what to expect. It was as described but I couldn't help being really pleased at how warm it was. There was a major wind storm outside and I slept through much of it, in total warmth and peace and quiet. If you are just looking for somewhere warm to get your head down whilst exploring the beautiful Great Langdale, I highly recommend this place."
Lakehouse at the Waterhead Inn
"Nice place to stay while travelling in The Lake District. Very clean, warm and welcoming pub with a great fish and chips!"
Wateredge Inn- the Inn Collection Group
"A traditional British inn with a bar downstairs. English breakfast is provided. The house is a wooden structure➕renovated later. Paintings and photographs of the Lake District are hung throughout the hotel. The receptionist was friendly. But note that Ambleside is a 20-minute walk away."
