Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge
4.4/547 Reviews
We stayed at the Serena Safari Lodge for two nights in September and absolutely loved it. It is located in Amboseli National Park which meant easy access for our game drives which were fantastic. Shout out to Benson who took us on the game drives. He was so knowledgeable and really listened to what we were interested in seeing and would get his book out to make sure he was giving us the correct information. The lodge itself is beautifully kept and our room (67) was large, clean and very comfortable. The outside seating area of our room had lovely views across the park. Note that you do need to keep doors and window shut because of the naughty monkeys around! The food was excellent with a large selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I used the spa facility which was excellent. The pool area was very good. There were multiple areas to sit and watch nature go about its day which was very calming and relaxing. Security at the lodge was very good. I would highly recommend.
Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli
4.5/542 Reviews
We stayed for two nights(Oct 3 and 4 2024) in Oltukai lodge. It was recommended to us by our tour operator, Shanjoy tours and Safaris. What I absolutely loved: Location, nearness to the air *****, service, monkey chasers, very reasonable rates for laundry and the gift shop. Great location where you see the elephants, hippos and other animals right outside the fence from your room or from anywhere in the campus. Service- The entire team, housekeeping, dining, front desk were all good. A special callout to Hoseah, (very personable, service wih a smile, gave us valuable tips that were useful throught our trip in Africa), Chef Francis who made us delicious butter chicken and indian veges for dinners, and Abigail who served us drinks. Note: Below is just a feedback to the hotel mgmt, not a complaint. We still enjoyed our stay immensly. I did not take stars away for this reason. 1. I currently have a health issue that prevents me from walking a lot. I had bad experience with our previous hotels in the safari and I specifically asked our briefer where my room was: Her reply was, “not far”. It turned out to be very far, the second last from the end. I had no energy to go back, and change the room. I had to plan our activities in such a way to avoid, going back to the room often. So please, be honest when your guest asks you a question. There may be a good reason why they are asking you. To be fair, every hotel except one was not honest with us on this one. Not sure what the mstery of room assignments is: how much you paid, tour operator preference?? 2. Bar doesnt open until almost dinner time. We went to have a drink by the pool, at 6:30pm. No service there. We came to the bar and ordered. There was only one person struggling with the load. More people came around 7, or so, apparently all in a staff meeting before dinner. We could have spent a lot of money in the bar, but we couldnt because these timings 😀
