Our stay at Meininger Hotel Amsterdam Amstel was an absolute nightmare. A stranger entered our room in the middle of the night while we were sleeping, stealing valuable belongings. Despite the hotel’s electronic key card system, they failed to ensure basic security. When we reported the incident, the reception staff dismissed our concerns, claiming there was "no way to verify the theft." The lack of professionalism and empathy was shocking and worsened an already traumatic experience. The hotel manager promised an investigation and updates, but we never received any follow-up. Despite the presence of security cameras, the hotel refused to show us any footage that could confirm the unauthorized entry, further demonstrating their lack of transparency and accountability. We were directed to report the incident to the police, which resulted in wasted time due to unclear processes and unhelpful guidance from the hotel. Personally, I requested a full refund of our stay from the hotel manager, but I have received no response to date. Additionally, the affected member of our group has yet to be reimbursed for the stolen items. This hotel not only failed to protect its guests but also showed no accountability or urgency in addressing the situation.
