If you want a historic, charming, full-service hotel with a world-class restaurant on a canal, look no further that the Ambassade. We loved the location-close enough to everything you’d want to see but far enough off the main tourist areas to feel residential and quiet. The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean; we slept well. We chose the breakfast included option and enjoyed a delicious cooked to order meal each morning. Again, we can not say enough about the staff, they were truly outstanding! A gem. We’ll definitely be back.

I've raved about this hotel in previous reviews. All I can say is it NEVER disappoints. I arrived at an ungodly early hour due to plane schedules, and was immediately welcomed and whisked upstairs to the dining room which was technically closed and being prepared for breakfast. That cappuccino and the warm welcome from a staff who were busily prepping for breakfast is the essence of the hotel. I loved the deluxe canal view room. We have been guests at this hotel for 25 years, and can highly recommend the canal view rooms. We often reserve a suite which is, of course, amazing. Some of the small rooms are very small and lack views so be sure to reserve what you want and double-check with the front desk before you arrive. The current construction which has closed the 2 and 12 tram lines (well, rerouted them away from the hotel) presented a small hurdle only because when they are operating fully, the hotel is ideally situated for getting anywhere in the city. It is still the prettiest and almost postcard perfect spot in town. Love it. Love it. Love it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay at Ambassade. The receptionists and bellmen were so helpful and friendly, wanting to make sure we were all happy. The location was fantastic. Quiet, in the Nine Streets, walkable to everything. We literally walked everywhere, clocking 8-9+ miles a day. We didn't take public transportation because we just enjoyed walking and seeing the sights, people and city life. The breakfast, whether you include in your rate, or purchase as needed, is one of the best European breakfast buffets I've ever had. The eggs benedict was great, but the scrambled eggs with cheese were out of this world! Our room was well appointed. Bed was very comfortable. We were in room 24, and had a canal view. There are many stairs as other reviews indicated, but it's not that difficult to figure out. All the buildings being connected is quite a feat, and we were not lost or bothered in any way. There is an elevator which is handy for luggage. All toiletries, hair dryer, robe etc... included. It was not an inexpensive hotel, but it was worth all the price we paid and would love to stay there again!

The hotel is a warren of rooms, and the numbers don't seem to have much logical sense, so it is easy to get lost despite the map. Beautiful room on the top floor with roof beams. Spacious, has everything you need including honor fridge, tea and coffee maker. A box of chocolates was left on the desk upon arrival which was a welcoming touch. The staff responded quicky to your needs. So saying, the negatives of this top floor under the roof beams is that you must be able to walk a steep narrow spiral case and down with a suitcase so beware of what you are traveling with and its weight as well as your physical mobility. Though a young man showed me to my room and explained how things worked, there was so information left out in his orientation that created a too cold room because the air conditioning was on, and no instructions how to get the towel warming rack to turn on/off as well as the heated floor to work. Sometimes employees who do this all the time, forget that those of us from another country may not have experience with how some things work. Make sure you ask all your questions no matter if you think they are stupid, otherwise your stay will not be as enjoyable.

A perfect place to stay for a visit to central Amsterdam. The hotel is made up of a large number of small old houses along the canal, which makes for a quite unique experience. All rooms are different, our nice and uniquely positioned on a basement floor with its separate entrance, but with large windows on the canal and a very modern bathroom. The library bar is nice, as is the breakfast, and the Ambassade Restaurant is certainly not to be missed, as a superior culinary experience still at reasonable prices. Perhaps the most notable feature is the friendlyness of the charming helpful team, which made our stay a truly pleasant experience. We will certainly come again when next time in central Amsterdam.

The hotel was very appealing and in a great location that allowed us to walk to all the sites and tours we planned to visit. There were plenty of restaurants and shops in close proximity. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with a large and comfortable bathroom. Their breakfast was excellent with hot and cold offerings that were unique. We would love to visit Amsterdam again and definitely stay there again.

We chose the Ambassade based on a friend's recommendation and so glad we did. The hotel is lovely and in the perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. The staff was so helpful (especially William) and the Library Bar was our meet-up spot every evening. The room was decorated beautifully and the bath was the best we encountered in two weeks of travel. Two sinks and plenty of counterspace which was much appreciated. Next time we're in Amsterdam, we will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful hotel and staff! The hotel is beautiful, and the library bar is friendly to writers. The library bar has an extensive collection of books, and excellent snacks and drinks. The rooms are beautiful, breakfast is great, and all around fantastic hotel experience. Highly recommend!
