Where to start with how wonderful this hotel is? When I was looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam, I didn't have much to go on so I looked at the glowing recommendations and took notice of Hotel The Craftsmen's 2024 TripAdvisor award. I took a chance, booked a small room for 5 days and hoped for the best. WHAT A GREAT CHOICE! Hotel The Craftsmen is about a 12ish minutes walk from Centraal Station. I received a very warm welcome for a slightly early check-in, so my stay started great and only got better and better. It has the tiniest elevator that I've ever been in—but this was an unexpected luxury in an old European hotel! You can also choose to navigate the way to your room by using a narrow circular staircase that explains the history of the hotel. My room was the Instrument Maker: it is an absolutely tiny, but charming and well appointed room with a terrific view of the Singel canal. I was so pleased to learn that I could open the windows for fresh air. Each day the hotel provides you two bottles of water one still and one sparkling. In the evenings you get a lovely view of the canal bridge lights and often a beautiful sunset. The bed is a comfy single with a good pillow and cozy down comforter! The related tiny en suite bathroom has a great shower with excellent water pressure and is stocked with amenities and a Dyson hairdryer. The very large, delicious breakfasts can be had in your room or eaten in a lobby room that looks out over the canal. If they're brought to your room, you will marvel at the size of what is on offer. And if you eat in the public area you will get to interact with the super charming young team that keeps this place going. Many thanks to each of them for making me feel comfortable, welcome, and well attended to. Truly, each interaction I had with hotel staff was thoughtful, engaging, and extremely pleasant. I had three unexpected and much appreciated gifts from the hotel: a welcome bottle of Cava on arrival; a question about whether or not they could prepare something special for me for my 3rd breakfast (no need, the regular breakfast was perfect); and on departure, a souvenir gift of ceramic coasters. I loved it all. If you want a memorably pleasant stay in Amsterdam, I highly recommend staying at Hotel The Craftsmen. Thank you!
