Highland Glen Lodge Bed & Breakfast

This is our favorite B&B we have ever stayed at. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a car and are in Anchorage. Pros: -Clean -Comfortable bed & sheets -Great shower -Lots of linens provided -Black out curtains! -A lounge with snacks -Coffee -A delicious breakfast included -A wonderful couple hosting -A beautiful and unique home -Nice seating area outdoors -Easy Parking Cons: -Really, none. Other notes: -You probably need a car to stay here. -Not downtown (in a neighborhood), but we thought that was a good thing. I highly recommend this B&B.

We flew into Anchorage for an anniversary trip and had an overnight stay and the Highland Glen BnB. The owners are wonderful and helped with meal suggestions. They are very knowledgeable about happenings in and around the area. Since we had to be to Seward for a boat ride to the fjords in the morning, they were able to accommodate an earlier breakfast (which was incredible) and help with driving directions. With the lady of the house from Scotland, it has the beauty and charm of quaint European BnB's that we love! We'd love to stay again sometime!

We have stayed here 3 times before and enjoyed the Lodge and it’s amenities, enough that we booked again for a May 2022 pre-cruise visit. We got a call while en route to Anchorage that they had a fire at the Lodge and we’d need to find different accommodations for that night, and that they would refund to my credit card. We did find a hotel room and continued on our vacation. After we had been back for a few weeks, I called to see when I could expect my refund and was told that the owner was traveling in England and another person was handling the refunds. Making a long story shorter, I ended up going back and forth with her for 3 months, with her telling me that the refund had been processed and me telling her that I did not receive any refund on my credit card at all, ever. I pleaded with them to just send me a check so I could be done with this and they could pursue whatever the problem was with their bank, and they finally did. I sent them everything they asked for to verify my payment, even copies of my credit card statements showing no credits received; I also offered a three-way call to AmericanExpress to have them verify what I was telling them. So it took almost 4 months to eventually get my money back, and throughout they came just short of calling me a liar. No apology in the end, even for a return customer that gave good reviews of previous visits. I know they had a rough summer, but so did I and I didn’t deserve to have my integrity questioned like that. I am an honest person, and to be fair to anyone looking to stay here, I’ll say that it is (or was) a lovely B & B in a good location, which was why we visited a few times- just don’t try to get your money back if you or they have to cancel!!.

We absolutely LOVED this place! Full of character, clean, super friendly owners and a wonderful breakfast! We were in room #3 and to our surprise it had a sauna! Pretty cool. I will be recommending this place to family and friends that I know are headed this way!

There’s lots to love about this charming b&b. The location is close to town but secluded on the wooded hillside, the house is old-world charming and beautifully furnished, the hosts are kind and attentive, the upstairs gathering area for guests is comfortable, well equipped, well stocked and inviting, and the breakfast is wonderful. The only minor glitches we experienced were no hot water in our shower (although there was hot water in the oversized tub and sink), the front door key pad entry was fussy and required some strong shoulder action to push the door open after hours, and although there was a clock radio in our room to show the time and to set a wake-up alarm, it was unplugged and we couldn’t get it to work. Overall though, if there was just a little extra attention to maintenance, this would be (and already is in many ways) a premier place to stay in Anchorage.
