Exopoli
The apartment was clean, and modern, and ideal for a couple. A top floor room gives nice views. Breakfast a little expensive so buy in town or buy something to eat on the room balcony. The staff and bar staff were so helpful and friendly. We asked for a change of room for a better view - no problem. The best beach and town a 10 min easy walk away. Good drink and food options behind the beach. Plenty of restaurants in town for all tastes. Veggie ok enough but limited. Rethymnon a 20 min bus ride away for 3 euros. Will certainly think of going back.
Kalyves Beach Hotel

Highly recommended hotel if you want to dive into authentic Greek experience. It’s actually so much better than on photos!!! Small town-village location is ideal if you are planning to visit all sides of the island. The hotel is situated on the Kalyves beach which is a gem - clean, tidy, cosy sunbeds and decent umbrellas. Food is a great variety, plenty of Greek dishes to experience local cuisine, always freshly cooked, vegetables, fruits and fresh orange juice is second to none. People working there are absolutely incredible. A special thanks to Penelope who was in touch from the moment we booked the hotel till the minute we left. She is amazing - answered all my questions before we arrived, helped with upgrading the stay and room, organised our transfer to and from airport, was checking on all guests throughout the day. Kids animator (who is also doing morning sport activities for grown ups) really likes her job and so dedicated. Buffett and pool bar staff are smashing, rooms are always cleaned to the highest standards, girls at the reception always meet with the widest smile and help with any enquiry. You feel like you’ve come home or visiting a family because this is the Greek style of hosting guests at this hotel. I really cannot find any bad thing to say about this hotel. P.S. If you are looking for an island experience and/or car rental - Matthew from TG travel at the hotel travel point is everything you need. He helped us to schedule the excursions based on our preferences, car rent at very competitive price, was in touch for some changes (the boat cruise had to be cancelled due to high waves, but he was prompt to deal with it and reschedule the trip to when we could do it based on other arrangements), very organised, efficient communication and extremely helpful. Highly recommend this place which is all you need for memorable stay in Crete.

Like the other reviews, the staff are what make to hotel a pleasant experience. Francesca, Tony, Natasha and Stella where amazing hosts for my stay. They were always warm and helpful through out my week with them. My favorite amenities was having a morning yoga session with Francesca on the rooftop with a sea view. Was a great way to start the day. I really hope the owner/management show appreciation to retain good staff that take pride in the job. A little can go a long way. I had a sea view room on the 1st floor which was cute. The room was clean and had Netflix Disney+ and YouTube on the TV which was really good if you want in room entertainment. Perhaps the bathroom's could do with a make over as whilst they are clean, they are quite dark and grey looking but fine in terms of functionality. I opted for the half board option and was a little bit apprehensive, as I usually am whenever I travel as I am vegan and worry about options. I did email the hotel 2 weeks before to let them know and I did see it was noted down on my paperwork when I checked in which was good. Dinner on the rooftop exceeded my expectations as there was options or alternatives I could have for my dinner so it didnt get boring having the same thing every day. However I do wish there was more option at breakfast as I ended up just having veg and potatoes which was not the most thrilling. The food at breakfast was not very hot also even when it came straight out the kitchen. It would have been nice to have the same level in variety as at dinner. For example, the fresh orange juice each morning was delightful but it would have been nice to also have fresh smoothies too. Also, having veggie sausages and pancakes at breakfast and vegan yogurt as these things do exist and should be more widely available. Hotel is widely accessible to the beach and shops which is literally stones throw away. Nice spot if you are a female solo traveler like myself who wants to have a restful vacation experience.

What a paradise of a hotel. From the minute we arrived the courtesy kindness and full attention from every member of staff was amazing, all they wanted was to make our stay as perfect as possible Which it absolutely was. It is a hotel I'd say for couples predominantly but we were a couple with our son who has special needs and all the staff especially Nikos and Marianna who works in the Beach Bar, Uxue and Penelope were so lovely to us 😊. The rooms are beautifully set out, the shower was superb so many settings and huge. the hotel was so clean and tidy everywhere the outside floors and rooms are cleaned daily. The pool and beach is stunning especially in the evening at sunset & on Saturdays there is music at the pool bar till 11pm which we enjoyed not overly loud just right. We had half board so breakfast and evening meals included .. The food is amazing....you will 100% find something you like, the breakfast was fantastic... the lady who makes the omelettes etc to your specifications was lovely, we are tea drinkers and requested bigger cups in no time we had our own tea pots and cups every morning set up so no need to ask .. they had cereals bread rolls cheeses, meats, pastries all kinds of fruits and dinner was the same such an amazing choice of food my partner is the foodie and she took great pleasure in sampling all the traditional Greek dishes and there is such a vast selection of steak, lamb, chicken, fish, stews, pasta rice, soups all freshly made ... magnificent 😋 I had a bad toothache during my stay and Penelope found me a local dentist and arranged a visit within hours I had been seen. Thank you Penelope 👍🏼 We managed to see some of the local sights there's a lake and an amazing mountain area where the stream runs through the restaurants and bars, Rethymno which is 20 mins drive from the hotel and is beautiful. It was our best holiday ever a huge thank you to Atonis, Uxue, Nikos,Argyo, Dimitri, Marianna, Penelope and all the cleaning and cooking staff that made it so wonderfuL There is so much more to see in Crete and we rarely return to a hotel twice, but for La Mer we will make an exception..hopefully we will be back next year!
