We stayed here for 2 weeks without knowing beforehand exactly what a special little town Archanes is. At home we were looking for a central location for our first trip to Crete, from which almost everything was easily accessible by car. We didn't want a hotel because we often ate on the go on our day trips. The Manili Boutiques & Villas really appealed to us and were ideal for us. Everything has been newly renovated and gives the impression of sustainability. It is cleaned regularly and there is hope that the beauty will be preserved in a few years and not everything will be worn out again immediately. There are no alternatives in Archanes of the same or higher quality. The resort has a bistro in the middle which is always open and offers room service / pool service, and breakfast is also served there. In addition to the small, manageable breakfast buffet with filter coffee, other coffee delicacies are also prepared at the bar (at no extra charge). The rooms, suites and villas are in the surrounding buildings. In between are small village streets with very little traffic. There are currently 11 rooms and 3 villas, the renovation of other houses is in full swing, soon there will be 30 rooms. The village center with shops, services and restaurants is 200m away. The staff is extremely helpful, very hospitable and ensures a relaxing and successful vacation. Our special requests were always fulfilled with full dedication, you feel very comfortable and welcome. Most guests only stay for a few days, max 1 week. We were the exception with 2 weeks. Heraklion is 15 minutes by car, the nearest beach is just under 20 minutes away. Knossos is 10 minutes away. The famous Samaria Gorge is 3-3.5 hours away, Chania 2-2.5 hours, Rethymno 1-1.5 hours. The beaches in the south, west (Matala) or east (Agios Nikolaos) can be reached in just over 1 hour. All in all we had a wonderful time in Crete and can highly recommend the accommodation for individualists. No mass tourism, but a pleasant proximity to get to know the country and its people better. Every encounter with locals is accompanied by a very friendly "jassas". With the possibility of arriving or departing daily, the resort is also recommended as a stopover on a tour of Crete. The Archanes region is the cradle of European winemaking. (4000-5000 BC) Everything is here. Also the possibility of visiting a winemaker, with tours of the vineyard and of course tasting. The local mountain Juchtas invites you to go on a hike and rewards you with a breathtaking view at the top. (There is also a dirt road that can be driven up by car) Most of the sights can be easily explored on a day trip. Only the hiking day through the Samaria Gorge was a challenge. (04:00 on
