"Charming host and comfortable well appointed room in a nicely architecturally restored house. Easy parking nearby and close to wine tasting at Lyrarakis and Scalarea. Breakfast was delivered to the room and was plentiful if not exceptional. Fresh fruit would have been a nice addition. A few minor improvements - coffee pods, water (tap water not drinkable) and shower gel not restocked which is not really acceptable for a boutique hotel."

"The pool is much smaller than it seems on the internet site: you can hardly swim 2-3 m without reaching the opposite side. And it is just in the middle of the courtyard, with people walking 30cm away from your towel to go across the courtyard and go out of the hotel. Idem for the suite room: very small. No sofa contrary to what you see on the site; very small space to put your stuff so you have to keep it in your suitcases and when you open them, you can hardly walk through the room... Restaurant: the breakfast buffet is disappointing too, little choice, clearly not a 5-star breakfast buffet. We went to the restaurant for dinner: there was very few people but we had to wait 50mn before getting our meal! So in a nutshell it is clearly not at the level of a 5-star standard and the hotel internet site doesn't reflect the reality. Everything is much smaller than expected. Just acceptable for 1-2 nights, no more."

"This is a paradise located at the famous village of Archanes.. full of color. The scenic is like being in Tuscany completed with a perfect hospitality, amazing views from the villas. "The Carpe Diem is an absolutely charming, small, boutique “hotel” in beautiful, authentic Archanes. I stayed here one night after arriving in Heriklion, and another night before departing. It is a perfect location for needing to get to/from airport, museums and Knossos. Eleni, the owner / host is truly amazing… She was so genuinely kind and welcoming, helped me with taxi transports, directions, and makes an absolutely delicious breakfast spread that is not to be missed! My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer. The Carpe Diem and Archanes were a highlight of my spectacular first trip to Crete. If you want an authentically beautiful experience of Crete, stay here! You will not regret it."

"We stayed in Drosostalida House 24-26 May, wish we stayed longer. It was quiet and peaceful. Definitely traditional and historic village. Bed, pillows comfortable, kitchen, bathroom complete with everything you need. Beautiful private gardens. We walked everywhere, (we had a car parked in the public car park) met friendly shopkeepers (Art by Kostis) (Myrro Skincare) and ate exciting, new Cretan food, from Taverna Spitiko and Likastos Tavern. Maria who showed us in was one of the best parts of Archanes. The owner also assisted us with recommendations on everything. Lots to do here in surrounding areas. We loved everything and everyone about this place and town."
