The Caledonian Claymore Hotel

The entertainment on the four nights couldn’t be faulted excellent each night Clean rooms friendly and polite staff the food was good four drinks every night great view across the loch and some good days tours to the gondolas and Fort William and cruise to mull and Oban

Just got back from a great holiday hotel the claymore was very good food was good,room 209 was very clean and comfortable only fault the carpet could be changed few marks on it,entertainment was all right, bingo was good could not really find any fault with the holiday and hotel staff very friendly and helpful

We love this hotel, the scenery is beyond beautiful, lovely staff. Just one gripe. Why is the cooked breakfast cold? Doesn’t help that the plate warmer doesn’t work. Excursion to Oban was lovely, our driver, Rob was an absolute star, very knowledgeable and funny

They started by confining the guests (mostly elderly and lacking stamina) to the coach for ten hours from Leeds to Arrochar. They cancelled the train excursion. Aparently the long serving manager was sacked last month and it showed. There are trip hazards and uncomfortable obstacles (one guest was hospitalised in an area where work was being carried out after a serious fall).

Rooms dated uncomfortable and not very clean, food atrocious do not bother to order cold and tasteless apparently this is not enough I have to have more letters in my review so carrying on plus side bar staff at least are on ball so good on them!

Just back from a lovely weekend at this hotel with Caledonian travel went to Oban & inverary both places very nice already booked for December the meals are very good only thing wish there was Scottish items on the breakfast like Haggis,tattie scones & black pudding

Just returned from 4 night break here......NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Bar area really nice & cosy and other communal areas were 'acceptable' but our room in the main old house was appalling. Damp and cobwebs in bedroom, very small double bed, bathroom dirty & toilet roll always damp, phone only worked if you held the socket in at the wall throughout the duration of your call. Corridors in a very poor state of repair /decoration. A tissue that had been dropped on the floor in the main hallway remained there from Monday - Wednesday. Bar staff and one of the waiters were very pleasant and hard working - other staff either cocky (appeared to always be on the defensive) or despondent (past caring). When we asked a waitress if a particular dish came hot or cold, her response was 'I don't know' - but there was no offer to try and find out!!! And that brings me to the food (or lack thereof). The limited options we could live with, but the portions were tiny and the 'seasonal veg' was the same insipid offering (I would say 'frozen') every night. BTW, whatever you do, don't have the fruit salad!!! Breakfast was by far the worst experience. Allegedly served between 7 -9 am, when we arrived at 8.20 on the first morning there were no sausages or bacon left, only beans, toms, and tepid scrambled eggs sitting in liquid - NO THANK YOU. My husband had only cereal and I had only toast that morning - not a great start. Every morning you were forced to ask for something to be re-stocked - bread for toast/ butter/ plates. We didn't expect 5* for the price, but we did expect clean and we didn't expect to have to pay to eat out at the local pub twice in order to get a decent meal (shout out to 'The Village Inn' just down the road - lovely pub, nice food, great service). This hotel is in an absolutely stunning location, but there is certainly nothing stunning about the hotel itself - our advice......STEER WELL CLEAR!!

Staff friendly Went with Caledonian Travel Lovely room overlooking the Loch which had been updated Meals were good full English breakfast and3 course evening meal bingo every night and entertainment really enjoyed the 4 night break The only disadvantage was NO LIFT

Where do I start?! This hotel is amazing, with the best views I've witnessed in a long time and the food is amazing. They staff are some of the friendliest, funniest and relaxed staff I have ever met and they are quick and efficient when needed. The room was in need of a little TLC as some floorboards were weak but I know they are due renovations soon so I am not too fussed. The whole feel to the whole was so relaxed and for a lovely 4 day break it was most certainly the place I needed to be. Will be back in the future that is for sure!!
