The only hostel located in the vicinity of Aso station. Great as a base for exploring Aso area. Amenities are good (kitchen / hot shower / toilets / sockets&light for each bed but no curtains). The car park area is not well-paved (small rocks like in most Japanese temples) and the staircase is a bit steep.

This place is beautifully furnished and built. I wished I could have stayed longer. When I booked, I thought it was the typical dorm you'd find in Japan, but it was more like a chill ryokan

The room, shower room and toilet room are clean and comfortable, but the smell of the entrance room(where guests put their shoes) is horrible! I had to rush, holding my breath, when I passed through it.

They serve Chinese, yellow people exclusively bad. Well, glad to know their real face. ****!

The hotel selection for this family trip in Japan was based on convenient transportation and economic travel, so we chose the backpacker hotel ASO Base in Aso. Because there are rooms with large beds, except for the bathroom in the public area, the other basics are not much different from ordinary hotels. Moreover, backpacker hotels are more convenient, with kitchens, etc. You can buy food at the agricultural supermarket next to Aso Station and come back to make your own Sukiyaki pot. The ingredients are first-class and very convenient. The overall environment is very warm, the facilities are complete, and the hygiene is also very good. Aso is a major station in Kumamoto Prefecture. If you want to simply transition for one night, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The place was clean and the cleaning was excellent! I'd like to use it again. The kitchen utensils were also clean! I think people staying here should bring pocket tissues with them.

There was a roadside station and a convenience store nearby, so it was clean and convenient. You could see the stars from the balcony on the second floor, and it was a very nice facility.

It was my first time staying in a mixed dormitory bed in Japan, and the experience was very good. The room was well designed, with lockable luggage space under the bed (locks are available for loan at the front desk), the toilet and shower area were clean and tidy, and the public area was warm and comfortable. I met many interesting people, and it was very happy to sit together and chat in the evening.

There is a hot spring (with sauna), convenience store and restaurants nearby, so it's in a convenient location and the toilets are kept clean. It's unfortunate that the power outlets are low and there is only one outlet on the bunk beds, and security is lacking.
