Magical property in magical land. Extremely professional and accommodating staff and service. The ground floor spa equally impressive where I enjoyed full body massage on consecutive days. One small issue with thermostat was dealt with promptly and to full satisfaction. I don’t believe you can improve upon The Old Cataract in any stay in Aswan..

I really loved this hotel. The view from my room (5th floor) over Aswan, the cataract, Elephantine Island, Aga Khan monument, was breathtaking. As the hotel is on a hill, I cannot imagine any other hotel offering views like that. The rooms are very clean, though a bit dated, and large, with a balcony. Very generous outdoor grounds, nice swimming pool and a perfect breakfast buffet. Nice little shopping center with very good prices for souvenirs. All in all - a hotel I would like to return to.

I arrived from Luxor after staying at the Luxor Pyramisa Hotel and I have to say this place is sooooo much better!! Not just the location or the size of this place but the most important thing was that all members of staff are really friendly, welcoming and always smiling, greeting you when you walk past. A few members stood out very well to me, who are Carlos & Christine from guest relations, who are really friendly and made sure that I had everything I needed and my stay was pleasant. They also sent a complimentary drink to the pool when they saw i was taking a swim. I think these guys definitely deserve a reward!! Mostafa and Ahmed from the taxi/souvenir shop booked a few taxis with them and also an excursion to the Nubial village. Good prices and the taxi were always on time and waiting for me. Finally, I can't forget Faisal, the lifeguard/swimming pool guy. Very friendly, and as soon as he knew I couldn't swim that well, I decided to give me a couple of hours of lessons! a shame. I only went to the pool once on my last day at the hotel. But in general all staff are great but these guys are the ones who I spoke with on a daily basis while staying at the hotel. The hotel, in general, is kept in immaculate condition. The gardens are nice and green and perfect for an evening walk. It's on an island, so no one to haggle you outside and the crossing is free, runs 24hrs, every 20/30mins. Rooms are a bit old but you have to remember we are not in New York or London and in fact very south of the country where its remote and for the price its a good deal!! Views are good, and sunset and sunrise while crossing on the boat to mainland is a view for sure!! I had half board so that was breakfast and dinner on a buffet service. Good selection of hot and cold food at both times. Can't say anything bad. Drinks are extra and the fresh juices are great! Will definitely be staying here again for a longer time when I visit next time!!

Amazing service from the staff. We were welcomed with cold fresh drinks and hot towels walking into the hotel lobby. Bags were taken to the room and we were able to tour the hotel prior to checking in. Once checked in Woel Farook made sure our stay was pleasant. He gave us a great view of the Nile. Also Mahmoud at the pool and bar took care of us every day there. The kids loved him as he entertained the 2 year old and 10 month old. The pool service is excellent. Can’t wait to go back. I definitely recommend staying at Movenpick.

The Hotel just went through a name change back in October 2019 as per management. We stayed in one of the three rooms near the pool area, which made it very convenient to access the terrace, pool, and appreciate the overview of the Nile. The facilities are very nice and well kept. The room was very spacious with a couple of things to be improved, The shower drain required unclogged since it almost over flooded and the AC was inoperative, thankfully temps in March respect at night and it wasn't required, and also noise was a problem at night since people are allowed in the pool area till the late hours. The staff was very hospitable and helped us plan a trip to Luxor with stop in a few temples.

This hotel was definitely a step up from Pyramisa Isis Island, which was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. The room was comfortable enough, the price was good, and there is a decent pool and a fabulous view of the Aswan Corniche. It was walking distance to the Nubian Museum and to the local McDonalds. As a tourist, you will get harassed constantly by the vendors as you walk, and it is very annoying. The food was not very good, but we found enough to eat. The shower was very weird and would go from unbelievably hot to cold. The worst part was that we were cheated by one of the male receptionists for a purchase at the Italian coffee shop in the lobby. He charged us 6 USD when the cost should have been under a dollar. Not a big deal for us to be charged 6 dollars for decent coffee, but it was the fact that he deliberately cheated us that really bothered me. I didn't throw a fit and let it go, and we just went to breakfast at McDonalds after that experience. The hotel lost money for that reason, as we certainly would have purchased many cups and coffee and pastries from them. Their loss. We also felt that one of their staff members was trying to scam us by asking (insisting) for change for a $20 US bill. The way he acted with us was very suspicious.

This hotel is one of those ”5-star hotels” in the city, and it offers nice views of the Nile River, and on top of that, they also own the other side of thstreet through an underground passageway. That was actually interesting to see. The pool was pretty cold and a welcome relief for the sweltering heat during our stay in Aswan, in the mid-40s! The staff helped us assist in our luggage and did not ask for tips afterwards. Finally! Professionalism right there! The breakfast was of great quality and also offers a nice view of the river. The breakfast room has an outdoor balcony seating if you want that fresh Sahara air! One downside though was that the washroom was pretty dated and you can tell by how old the door was due to repeated exposure from humidity. Also, their spa is not free unlike my hotel in Cairo. The staff were initially excited that we went there to have fun, she even turned on the music to set the mood, only to find out that the service was paid and we all rushed out of there. Haha that was funny!

The choice of accommodation in Aswan was varied, but I wanted to find something special. And it was during my research that the Nubian Palace, in Nubian Village, came up. How wonderful it was to arrive at the hotel, do the check-in while drinking a welcome hibiscus juice, and then find a wonderful room Nubian style. The bedroom, with 2 super comfortable single beds, also had a desk, chair and closet. Outside the bedroom, but within the area corresponding to the bedroom, in a small patio also with a table and chairs, was the private bathroom with shower. On the first morning, because I had a trip to Abu Simbel that started at dawn, the hotel prepared some breakfast boxes that were very useful. Furthermore, all the meals (open air) I had there were very good and in large quantity. Last but not least… The entire hotel staff was extremely friendly and efficient. They contributed to making this experience at the Nubian Palace a very successful one, which means that I definitely want to return there again in the future.

The hotel is a resort, the overall environment is very beautiful and very fresh, will want to stay in the hotel and not go out. The sunrise view is very good. There were not many guests when we stayed here, almost dominating the whole villa feeling, the 1st floor living room and 3rd floor living room are very spacious and comfortable.
The staff has a good service attitude and is polite. There will be takeaway breakfast when you leave the house early, just WhatsApp and say in advance at the counter to be ready for me.
Fast wifi in the room, very clean toilet, room, very good experience. In the flush toilet bowl button is a little difficult to press, and it is prepared than the adapter of the hair dryer can not be used. There is no phone in the room, you have to rely on phone/whatsapp to contact the hotel, but whatsapp reply is slow, maybe 10-20 minutes to get a reply. Another day did not tell us to renew the room card (or we did not hear clearly), so another day the same room card could not open the villa door, to take it back to reception renew.
From the villa door to reception is not close, to call golf car out of reception takes d time, if the building a little far from the reception is relatively troublesome. There are electric bikes outside but it says undermaintenance so it can't be used (but it's not locked, if you just have to ride it maybe). The restaurant is a little distance from the hotel, to go out as well to go to reception to call a car out to the river, a little inconvenient. But they said there will be a new restaurant near the hotel in 1 month.
However, the restaurant is just as beautiful, big and comfortable. Another is that it was said to have free sailing boat service but the same said under maintenance so there is no seat. If you want to take a sailboat to watch the sunset you have to arrange a separate car out of the city (the fee is rather expensive so we go out to find ourselves).
Conclusion: Overall environment/service full marks, but not very convenient.

It's a decent new hotel with clean facilities, and quite hotel. The staff are very polite, smiling and very helpful, I thank the reception team for everything, really all of you were wonderful. There is a hotel car and sometimes a mini bus that transported us to and from the hotel and its available at all times. I recommended this hotel, and will visit it again. Thank you again

Outstanding
The hotel is right at the riverbank and uniquely styled in A Nubian désigne and tastefully designed balancing between antique, ancient and modern. There is a very beautiful view of the sunset in the evenings. The bed is one of the softest I have slept in and the pillows are very fluffy. Food was good and had a Christmasy theme.
This place screams local charm and happiness. The location is amazing, in a Nubian village (you will think the taxi driver is lost), it is colorfully cheery, so clean, on the river, and the restaurant is so delicious…as you dine Nile side. One night a local music group came…super fun. There is a local man with a boat, Fufu, and for $2.00 he is the most fun water taxi ever. I look for hotels that have all the feel for where you are and this place nails it. This is a Muslim hotel so no bar. Good thing we had a bottle of vodka from duty free. The hotel does not have a pool. The manage told me they are adding one soon! Good thing This place is just everything you would want in a cool place. Book it ! Parker in Santa Fe
Wonderful experience! This place is the best place to stay when you are in Aswan if you like peace and quite and beautiful views. The location is magical right in front of Philae temple, You reach the hotel by taxi boat (check in and check out are free drive) You are far from the city center please keep this in mind! But for us this was perfect. we wanted a place to relax in a nice quiet environment to end our holiday in busy Egypt. THE STAFF All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The service was great! The welcome hibiscus drink was a nice extra touch! THE HOTEL GROUNDS The hotel is situated on a private island in front of Philae temple. The buildings are build in a traditional way with respect for nature. We really loved the use of natural materials it gives an extra connection with the environment. The Vegetable garden is a beautoful oasis. they grow their own food to use in the restaurant. We also loved the cats and dogs (Rita and Anton) They have a private beach with river access and also kayaks. THE RESTAURANT The restaurant location is breathtaking, right in front of Philae temple. Its not only a beautiful place, the food is amazing to! And you can tell because of the large groups who visit the restaurant for lunch when they end their visit in the temple. We had lunch and diner in the restaurant and it was perfect! Very fresh and delicious and a lot of choice on the menu. Breakfast is also very good. At night you can watch the lightshow on the temple. THE ROOM The room is very basic but good. It is small but for us perfect. The bed is comfortable and the balcony beautiful with nile views and even the temple complex! The bathroom was very basic, the room floated while showering. There is no wifi in the room but that is absolute not a problem for us. TRANSFERS The taxi boat transfers were very good. we had no problems with our transportation to the city and the airport. They even arranged a boat for us at 3u30 in the morning because we had an early flight to Cairo. They also made us a breakfast box to take on the plane! Thank you to the Eco Nubia team for our wonderful experience at your beautiful place! Sarah and Jan
The Kato Dool Hotel is too beautiful for just one night but offers too little for a longer stay. This creates a contradiction, and there is still much work to be done. **Pros:** - The hotel features unique architecture with vibrant colors, staying true to the Nubian style. - The view is probably the best you can get in Aswan. - Every room includes a cozy balcony. - There is an outdoor terrace by the pool where you can enjoy food while overlooking the Nile. - The food they serve is good. **Cons:** - The food is very monotonous. 80% of the dishes are some variety of tagine. There are only a few vegetarian options, with most dishes featuring chicken, beef, or seafood. Seafood dishes must be ordered one day in advance. The waiting time for drinks and food is also very long—expect to wait 40-60 minutes after placing your order. - Many of the wooden furniture pieces need readjustment. Doors are difficult to open, windows don’t close properly, and closets won’t open. - There is only Wi-Fi in the reception area, with no coverage in the rooms. Management has been aware of this issue for over a year and promised to fix it, but nothing has changed (according to older reviews). - The rooms are very noisy. Whenever someone uses water on any floor, the boiler runs for several minutes, and you can hear every cough from neighboring rooms. - There are no blackout curtains, and the air conditioning is slow to cool the room. In the main area, there is also a loud beeping noise coming from the roof, which the staff hasn’t been able to stop. It is constant and extremely annoying when dining, relaxing, or sleeping. - The road leading to the hotel is unpaved, consisting of sand and rocks. - The hotel offers a tuk-tuk service between the village and the hotel, but there is little to do in the village. For trips to Aswan or other places, you need to book a private driver through reception. Each way will cost you about 800EGP every time - Although the hotel is branded as a 4-star wellness hotel, the only facility it offers is a pool—there are no other wellness services. - We paid around €400 for three nights, which isn’t a lot by European standards, but it is expensive for Egypt, and the quality of service did not meet expectations. The hotel is beautiful, but that’s about it. This was something we noticed throughout Aswan: prices are higher than in Luxor, but the level of service drops significantly. Even the bathrooms lack basic amenities, like toilet brushes. - There are many staff members, but their English is very limited, making communication difficult and leading to frequent misunderstandings. The only staff member who is easy to work with is Ahmed at the reception. He tries his best to make your stay more enjoyable. - A major downside is the lack of an alcohol license. While alcohol isn’t essential for a vacation, it adds a romantic element to the evenings with the stunning view. The hotel caters exclusively to foreign tourists,
GGuest UserThe Hotel was really beautiful, excellent facilities with nice architecture and decoration, impressive view to the Nile from the rooms, very clean and comfortable common areas and room. Relaxing and private setting. Unique experience. The service was good but we have some miscommunication problems with the staff serving at the restaurant. For us communicating in English with them was difficult, and it cost us some problems with our consumption and food bill. There is some room for improvement for the Hotel in that regards. Although the location for us was really nice for other guest or tourist may prove a problem, as it is not of easy access. Although the hotel offers a shuttle boat to mainland, we had to go through some long waits at mainland to get the ride. Without having a phone to call well in advance for transportation it becomes really different to access the hotel. We were lucky that our tour guide in Aswan, had his local phone and could always help us contacting the hotel and getting the boat for us.
GGuest UserI immediately typed this review on my phone upon departure because I was so excited to post it when I had some time and internet. Hadouta Masreya is an incredible experience! My ONLY regret is that we didn’t have enough time as we didn’t land until 1:30 am and had to leave around 9 am. Hospitality: Hamed and Shereen were extremely accommodating during and before the trip, respectively. Shereen helped me coordinate via WhatsApp transportation from the airport (and to our Nile cruise pick up point), as the Nubian Village is not directly off a main road. Our drivers were there for airport pickup on time and patient with all of our luggage and how late it was. They even came back to take us to our Nile cruise pickup point. Furthermore, one of the drivers helped us contact our tour guide when we couldn’t find our guide at the cruise point. They ensured not to leave us until we were in safe hands! Upon arrival to the guest house, Hamed welcomed us with open arms- literally! He was on the steps upon arrival (it’s 2:30 am at this point) and super friendly and helpful! He offered us juices and helped set us all up. In the morning, he offered us snacks and beverages (as we were too tired to wake up early enough for breakfast- which was definitely offered!!). Just such wonderful hospitality and we felt so sad to leave! Room: My parents had a private room on the first floor and my husband and I had one at the top floor with the view of the Nile. Both rooms were clean and had functional AC! The bathrooms were updated. Like the vanity and tiles look better than the ones in my bathroom at home LOL. The mattress was on the stiffer side, but that’s a good thing for us, as we do prefer these types of beds. The view was incredible too in the morning when we woke up! Heads up before you book: the Nile view rooms have a lot of stairs so be prepared if that’s what you book. We knew that going in so we had ourselves mentally ready! Ambience: Nubian Village is so special and beautiful. I really want to come back and visit again! The colors are so vibrant and you could feel the sense of community and pride in their village as you’re driving through. There are cute markets within walking distance too. Overall, these positive reviews are spot on, and the pictures simply don’t do this properly justice.
KKalagandaailisiThis small hotel is in a small village. I went in February. It was dry and cold. The air conditioner could be cooled. The wind in the door was very strong. The panoramic room had a balcony on one side and it was colder. Sara at the front desk is more professional and can ask her if she needs to ask, but she goes to work at 10 am. The one in charge of the bar was very unreliable. The pot of hot water for us was unwashed. The pot of milk was released. The water soaked was all paste. The food and hygiene were completely untrustworthy. And sold us two bottles of water. We didn't order it, he took it directly to us. So we thought it was breakfast, and finally showed us the price list and asked us for money. I said you didn't tell us, he said you didn't ask. Aswan's first stop impression is therefore very poor!
GGuest UserWe booked Villa Misk because of the beautiful view overlooking the boats and Philae temple in the distance. The villa is slightly out of town, which makes it very peaceful and tea on the terrace overlooking the water is just wonderful. The hospitality here is second to none. Ahmed and his family went above and beyond to make our stay in Aswan the best that it could be. They were very accommodating of our early check in and late check out. Ahmed not only organised a visit to Abu Simbel for us from Aswan, he very kindly organised a driver for us for our time in Luxor as well. Our best memories in Egypt are all thanks to Ahmed’s kindness and expertise. Definitely book this place - it’s a gem.
PPANIt is said that hotels in Aswan are expensive but not good. Maybe it was because my expectations were lowered. Instead, I think this hotel is very cost-effective. The first is the location, on the side of the Nile, on the top you can overlook the Nile. It is very pleasant to watch the sunset. The second is the facilities. Although they are older (if you travel frequently, you should know that the world is unable to compete with the fast-developing China than the new ones), but the level of construction is definitely at least three stars. Much better than the same price in Cairo. Look at the service again. I arrived in the middle of the night and my brother was very warm. When I heard that I was going to join the group at four in the morning, Ma Shan helped me arrange a wake-up service. Early the next morning, a large pack of breakfast was prepared, enough for two or three people. When I left, because the train was at three in the afternoon, I hope to leave the store two hours late. They agreed without saying anything. The Egyptian tradition is to do things to give tips. This is not for foreigners. During the stay, whenever I had a problem, they patiently helped and did not ask for tips. Instead, I am embarrassed. Looking at breakfast again, it may not suit the taste, but the richness is enough. There are nearly ten kinds of bread, as well as freshly baked food. Coffee is instant, which is unacceptable to me. But it cannot be said that they are bad. Compared to my other hotels in Egypt, I definitely like this one better.
