How have I overlooked this place before this? Anyway, I wasn't able to get into the convention's hotel since it sold out in half an hour. I started looking in a "can my date make it in five inch heels" walking radius, and I wondered about the Ellis since it's a popular overflow hotel during DragonCon. The building is quite old, and a historic landmark, but the inside is new and polished. Rooms are comfortably large- I had a king size bed in a corner room. A very nice king size bed, by the way. My back is quite finicky. The shower had a genuine Kohler Deluge head on it, and seemingly limitless hot water. Unlike some other hotels I can name (the Courtland Grand), the elevators and the air conditioning ran flawlessly all weekend. Housekeeping does a great job. The counter staff were great, with grab and go "charge it to your room" snacks and drinks available all night. Yes, I paid four bucks for a $1.50 bottle of Coke, but the convenience was impossible to beat. Abien and Sebier will take great care of you.
