Me and a buddy stayed one night in room 300 - it's one of the ”Apartment Style” 1 Bedroom rooms. The hotel itself was extremely clean and everyone on staff that we spoke to was polite and personable. The 1 Bedroom style room has the bathroom inside the bedroom, so if you have extra guests staying on the sofabed, they're going to have to come into your bedroom to use the restroom or shower if you're in there. The bed was very comfortable and came with 4 fluffy pillows. Bed linens were clean and fresh - no stains anywhere. There was a ceiling fan in the bedroom. This room came with a full kitchenette and everything you could need - pots, pans, silverware, cooking utensils, etc. There is a full size fridge in the kitchen. The living area has a separate PTAC heating and cooling unit from the bedroom so it can be a different temperature from the bedroom. There is a TV in the living space and the bedroom, and it comes with your basic apps built in - youtube, netflix, etc. If you have the hilton app you can control the TV from your phone. The internet worked very well. There are plenty of USB ports and outlets everywhere - both by the sofa bed and the master bedroom bed. The only quirk was how the light switches are wired up. There seems to be one ”master” light switch by the front door, and you have to turn it on to be able to turn on the kitchen lights, dining nook light, and bedroom fan. Took forever to figure that out but once we did, wasn't an issue. Very enjoyable stay, and will be our first choice hotel in the area when we return for events at the nearby HEB Arena. There is also a P. Terry's hamburger place nearby. If you're visiting Austin, you GOTTA get a P. Terrys.

Rainey Street Historic District
Loved this hotel! I'm so glad we chose to stay here. I'm not exactly sure what the poor reviews are about. What I found was an exceptionally, immaculate lobby and eating area, a huge room with updated furniture and a great kitchenette. The bathroom area was split allowing for someone to use the vanity and sink, while another person uses the toilet or shower behind a door. We never used the kitchenette, but it was fully stocked with glassware and utensils. The full refrigerator was a huge plus! The bed was huge, and had great linens. The couch was also extra large. The pullout wasn't the greatest, but worked for the kids. As for the rest of the hotel: clean, modern, excellent breakfast with attendants that are always cleaning. The business area was good enough to print a few things.  The pool area was nice. It was small, but wasn't ever crowded. There were a lot of bugs on the pool, but a quick skim took care of that. The pool towels were the best I've used in a hotel of this level. The gym was well-equipt and provided towels, a water station and even earbuds! The elevators were fast. The workers were cordial, but never overfriendly (which was a slight bummer). The interior was always clean, but for two days the doggie garbage pail outside the front of the hotel overflowed. This hotel is literally on the backside of Rainey Street. The pool deck overlooks all the fun taking place down below! We learned way too late in our trip (as we were packing the car) that a path at the back of the parking garage (ground level) leads you right to Bangers on Rainey. I never asked the desk attendants, so shame on me, but would have been great to know this little route rather than having to walk all the way around a few blocks...and through construction.  As for their parking, it is $45 a night. We opted to park down the road for $32 for two nights. All in all, I loved my stay at this Homewood Suites. I recommend staying here especially if you want to be close to Rainey.

John or the African American man in the fitted shirt at 2am. I greeted him he didn’t say hello. I said good morning again and he asked what can I do for you, I asked him to verify my rewards status to get waters, he asked for ID perfect, he is doing what he is supposed to. Then asked if I had received my waters already at check in I informed him I had just arrived, so no I had not. I asked what time breakfast was he walked towards the sign and told me 7-10 and pointed to insinuate I should have looked over at the sign, I could be wrong. It’s 2 in the morning, just drove in and im tired if I was going to get this kind of treatment I could have grabbed my own waters and proceeded to read what was posted for breakfast. I lastly asked for a late checkout time he stated “you can confirm with the morning staff” Then I asked for his name, he paused wrote something down and said “my name is…. as he drug it out, is John. Don’t believe it. Not a terrible experience just uncomfortable and unnecessary. I will make sure to check in with the morning staff If I decide to stay at another Homewoods. It probably will never be this one. John or the middle aged young dude with the fitted polo shirt shouldn’t lose his job, or be yelled at he needs additional training over guest relations and how to handle all guest, even at 2 in the morning in hopes he will get better and one day no one will ever treat him or his family the way I was treated in that moment. The crazy part is the elevator was not working and we were the fourth floor, my family and I were even mad to have to take the stairs, John or whatever his name was, ruined the start of the experience. I won’t even wait until after I checkout to write a review. It is safe to say the morning experience will be better and the breakfast better than the night experience.
