La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Southwest

This hotel was surprisingly ok not like the others hotel that I’ve stayed of la Quinta

I needed a hotel for one night in this particular area, otherwise I probably would not have chosen to stay at this LaQuinta. What I look for hotels is “quiet, comfortable and clean.”. I got half of these at the La Quinta. Clean: The carpet in the hallway leading to my room was disgustingly dirty. It looked as if paint from a sloppy paint job had landed on the carpet, but I saw no evidence of recent painting in the hallway. Seeing this first thing upon my arrival was not encouraging. But, I will say that the room itself was quite clean. Quiet: I arrived around 10pm after a long travel day, but was wide awake until midnight. Thank goodness that I was not sleepy because I heard every voice in the hallway until 11pm. The room did quiet down after that, but my experience did not start out well. Comfortable: This was a definite selling point. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. Safety: I did not feel unsafe here even when I had to go out to my car late at night to retrieve some forgotten items. Breakfast in the lobby area was included in the price of the room and it was your basis eggs, breakfast meat, pastry, waffle option. The area was clean and well-stocked. (And who doesn’t get a kick out of a Texas-shaped waffle?) For a one-night stay, the LaQuinta is an OK lower-cost option.

NOT happy. On 3rd floor and my entire team contacted me as no one on this floor at least, has a microwave or refrigerator in their room. The only ice machine I've found so far is on the 1st floor and then...they dont have ice buckets. Desk clerk gave me two chincy trash bags to use. No fridge means I have to fill my cooler so my food doesn't go bad. Room is clean. Mattresses are not fully encased which I dont like but haven't seen any signs of bed bugs. One mattress is pretty stained. Room carpet looks clean but the hall carpet and elevator are filthy. Would I stay here again? Not without a fridge and microwave. I travel all over Texas Mon-Fri and stay in alot of hotels and I bring my own food to save money. A refrigerator is a must have. Fortunately they have a microwave in the breakfast area so that helped. Desk clerk was nice but he knows...we are NOT happy. Unfortunately, I feel the answer he gave us for why these appliances are missing makes no sense so maybe it appeases some but the rest of us, are left scratching our heads. Im glad this time...is only one night otherwise I would change hotels as they are supposedly fully booked.

This hotel is a great option if you are looking for super cheap but still safe. The rooms were clean though the carpet in the hotel really needs to be replaced. Overall I paid about $80 for a night and I got what I paid for. What is interesting about this hotel is location. The hotel is in this isolated spot with only an apartment complex nearby. Most super cheap hotels are in sketchy areas but this hotel is actually in a safe place. So I felt safe in the hotel and safe leaving my car here. The hotel is also super close to downtown Austin. My son lives near sixth street and I was at his place in 10 minutes driving from the hotel.
