"We stayed here for a concert and got that kind of late so we called the front desk from our room to request a late check out the lady told us it was going to be $25 and we agreed that we would leave by 3:00. The next morning the fire alarm went off at 9:00 a.m due to the negligence of a man repairing the wall in the lobby and woke us up and then at 12:02 a lady was banging on our door telling us they had no record of us requesting a late check out and argued with us through the door. At that point we were so frustrated that we just left and we had to go verify with the front desk that we didn't get charged for late check out as we left around 12:15 complimentary breakfast and service was abhorrent"

Red Roof PLUS+ Austin South – Airport

Red Roof PLUS+ Austin South – Airport ★★

"To say my experience was horrible is an understatement. The hallway smelled like wet dog so bad it made my partner throw up, as well as the smell coming from the AC unit in our room. The room looked nothing like the online photos. Then the toilet tank flooded overnight because of the flap being stuck open and the entire room floor was literally under water. All of my clothes and belongings were soaked with toilet water. The manager didn’t even believe me over the phone and sent a maintenance worker to my room to argue with me about why the toilet wasn’t broken. Unbelievable. Not a single apology or any kind of reimbursement was even offered. All around a very nasty place. Not to mention the whining dogs left alone in just about every room on the first floor. I do not recommend staying here lol."

Super 8 by Wyndham Austin Downtown/Capitol Area Hotels in Austin

Super 8 by Wyndham Austin Downtown/Capitol Area

"The stay was much better than expected. Everywhere was clean and honestly they should update their pictures because the bedding was white and clean and looked a bit more updated than the pics. This was my first time staying in a motel and there were concerns of safety as anyone could come in and out of the property so had my door locked at all times. Sounds could be heard between walls and often times someone knocked on my door , while looking through the peephole it always seemed to be a homeless person. So please be vigilant when staying here and don’t wonder about at night. There was shampoo/conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom however it was empty and during my 3 night stay I wasn’t visited by housekeeping once. Also the rooms are very dark as the only window in the premises faces the walkway so I had to keep curtains closed at all time. There’s a bus stop right outside so easy to travel around. Breakfast is served but it isn’t substantial, cereals, fruit and waffles."

Holiday Inn Express & Suites AUSTIN DOWNTOWN - UNIVERSITY by IHG ★★★
"1. There was no airport shuttle service, even though it was advertised. When I arrived and called, they said there wasn't one. A taxi cost over $90, which was infuriating. 2. The hotel's location is close to the Texas State Capitol, but the area downstairs is truly awful. All the storefronts are boarded up, and there are homeless people on every street for several blocks around. When I first arrived, I honestly wondered if I'd landed in a slum; I didn't dare leave the hotel on the first night. 3. The hotel doesn't offer free parking; it's $45 a day. We rented a car and later realized that other places just a few miles away were much cheaper. It made us understand how wealthy this city is, but our first time at this hotel truly felt like a 'city of doom.' I've never left so many comments before. 4. The hotel parking lot uses a scan-and-pay system that's incredibly confusing and frustrating. We had a 9 AM flight and left at 6 AM, but spent over 20 minutes dealing with the parking, which was maddening. We frequently stay at hotels from this brand, but honestly, I'd say avoid this one if you can. Two stars are even too generous. To top it off, the hotel food is terrible, and there's nowhere to eat nearby, not to mention all the homeless people."
