The Westin Austin at the Domain

When I went water was out and shower was unavailable, very inconvenient during my stay. Other than that a good hotel

The hotel is located in the highly popular Domain area in North Austin which is good for shopping and has some great restaurants even though it’s quite a distance from downtown Austin. The hotel rooms are well furnished with comfortable beds in the king room. There is a small sitting area with a small table where a single person can sit and work. In room WiFi is fast enough to work on. The hotel would be preferred by business professionals as there are quite a few companies located in the area. Lots of parking available onsite and is free for hotel guests. There is also a restaurant onsite which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Starbucks coffee is available at the in-house bar. Also you can order many of the food items from the restaurant at the bar and eat along with your drink. Eating at the bar is actually the best proposition. There is no automatic addition of 18% gratuity and no service charge. The staff at the bar were all excellent every day that I ate there and were always courteous and helpful with suggestions. It was surprising that there is a service charge added to all checks when you eat at the onsite restaurant Urban Grill. Service charge was added to room service orders which was fine as they were bring orders up to room. But the service charge on top of 18% gratuity auto added to all checks at the restaurant was unexpected. On top of that, a request for additional gratuity was unwarranted in my opinion. On one day of our stay, there was an issue with hot water being unavailable. It was fixed by a technician but it made us late to get to work. Not a big deal for us, but definitely a con for our stay. The staff at hotel other than at the restaurant are extremely friendly, helpful and customer oriented. Definitely one of the plus points of this hotel.

Ray and Kimberly are both awesome bartenders at Westin - and the Caesar with chicken could feed an army. (And the chicken did not taste like cardboard) They were both attentive and friendly. Kept the libations coming and managed multiple parties simultaneously.

I saw an old book on the Bay of Pigs fiasco displayed in the lobby and was intrigued because I wrote my thesis on this topic. I asked front desk attendants, Kim G and Carla if I could buy this 1979 copyrighted book. They said no but they could GIVE it to me. I was thrilled. Thanks, Kim and Carla for your generosity and thanks Westin/Marriott for empowering your employees.

Amazing spot to stay and right near the hub of The Domain. Spacious and clean rooms and bath and common areas. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Kimberly and Joseph at the bar made our stay so fun. Drinks and food were very good and service overall was amazing.

I did not end up going and instead have been in the hospital all day. My wife called and the lovely people there not only extended concern the gave us a refund. After my last stay down there and especially after this interaction I won’t stay anywhere else Last year my son and I stayed there and loved everything about the place. The saltwater pool was amazing.

Excellent and reliable hotel with no surprises. Very friendly and professional front desk staff, to definitively include (manager) Kim, as well as Kim J, Carla, and Jimya, all of whom somehow remembered our names as after one day. Wonderful local recommendations regarding food and some shopping. Lovely staff.
