I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard University Area with my friend. I had checked in on my phone so we could have a mobile key. The app said I needed to check in face to face because an ID was required for a mobile key. Upon arrival, my ID was not checked. I was just given a key to room 617. While the room was average, I do not believe it was worth the group rate of $150/night or the standard $200/night. A Courtyard should be on par with a Hilton Garden Inn, and it should be a step above a Fairfield. However, I have stayed at LaQuintas nicer than this. The hotel website advertises a free breakfast, yet the only thing available was the Bistro, which was clearly not a substantial breakfast. Finally, there was a mysterious stain in our tub that made it seem unclean, and the linens smelled like farts. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and there are far better places for the money in Austin.
