The hotel should be updated to not look quite so oppressive and old fashioned. Yes, it is a wonder of the late 19th Century, if that is your taste, but it gives off a feeling of darkness and tawdriness. That being said, it also appears to be slightly seedy and cheaply maintained. Our bathroom had a step inside its tight confines-which demanded extreme care. And since nowhere in the room or bathroom was there a night, or even a dim light, you must subject yourself to total glare if you need the bathroom in the middle of the night. The elevator, at least in the old section, is impossibly slow. Finger marks and smudges are all over it...and its floor is either dirty, or looks that way.

Facility was clean and professional the staff was efficient and helpful. the restaurant was a small issue since we stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night and the main restaurant was closed.

We stayed at the Driskill 10 years ago for our honeymoon. For our 10th anniversary we decided to go back because we loved it so much the first time. We no longer love this hotel. The bathroom lights were flickering nonstop until they ultimately went out. We had to shower and use the bathroom is the dark. We never once had a housekeeping visit. The front desk lady was rude when we checked in. She asked if we had ever stayed before and we said yes we had 10 years ago and she said ‘we’re a lot different now’ and then shoved our room keys to us. She wasn’t wrong, the hotel is not the same and it’s lost its magic. The valets are amazing though! They were so friendly and brought our car to us quickly. Also, they charge a $25 destination fee so you can take a self guided art tour and for 2 complimentary beers at check in. The beers are not worth $100.

A beautiful historic hotel, let down by uninterested, aloof, bored front desk staff. TV never worked properly and maintenance refused to repair or replace it. Sink never held water, alarm clock display had gone which took two requests to replace it with a working one. Front desk also told us dinner was available when checking in, but when asking about making an early evening reservation was told the grill was shut. Housekeeping spoke no practical English so a request for firm pillows resulted in more soft ones (which were like marshmallows). But still . . . the hotel is gorgeous, the setting is great and it's unlike any other in the area. Top Tip to the Driskill Management: Your staff desperately need training.
