Located in the Awara onsen town, it is a relatively new onsen hotel. All rooms have a private onsen inside the room. We received very warm welcome from staff. And I notice that the staff ratio is quite high given the manpower shortage now in Japan. THis is also the first time that the check in process was done inside your room, not at front desk of in club lounge. Our suite is facing the man-made fish pond with a small porch. Our living room has a table and chairs for meals, not the Japanese style sitting on the floor. The bedroom ares is nice. Air conditioning control is separated for living room and bedroom. The public onsen is not particularly impressive since each room has its own private onsen. Hand made drinks are available in the lobby after checkin. Enjoying the good scene of the hotel fish pond garden with a drink on hand is marvellous. Both dinner and breakfast is served in the room so you do not need to out out. It has a high price tag and the service quality matches with such high price.

One of the best ryokans I’ve experienced. Now on my fourth visit (month long) . The places has been totally rebuilt since a fire in 2018 and is still like new. Each room has a partly open tub but there are also public ones indoors and outside. Food is amazing. You can watch the chefs work through a viewing window. Both breakfasts and dinners are served in your own room with views on to either the pond or garden. Very tranquil setting.

Beniya, a long-established restaurant that I often visited with my parents when I was a child, was destroyed by fire in 2018, and a year has passed since it was rebuilt. It is fully booked during the COVID-19 season. By chance, I discovered that one room had been canceled while I was checking online, and I immediately booked it. The landlady is just as lively and cheerful as ever. After dinner, the landlady brought me a birthday cake herself, and instead of the birthday song she was humming, she chose the song ♪ Your eyes have fallen to the earth at 10,000 volts ♪, which was a wonderful and unforgettable gesture. The room comes with a free-flowing 70-degree hot spring. You can also enjoy in-room dining. There is also a selection of prestigious wines, including Kenzo. I hope that the hotel will flourish together with the young trees in the newly planted garden and prosper even more than before.

The seasonal kaiseki cuisine made with fresh ingredients from Fukui Prefecture is very delicious, especially the tofu dishes. Also, meals are served in the rooms, and each room has a half open-air bath with natural hot spring water, so you can relax and enjoy yourself without worrying about anyone else. However, it's a bit disappointing that the price of alcohol is quite high, about 2 to 3 times the average price.

This is the first inn to open in Awara Onsen. The spring quality is gentle. All rooms have baths with natural spring water, so few people use the large communal bath. The open-air bath is small, and there is no sauna. The food is seasoned for adults, and they have a selection of hard-to-find local sake. Rather than a hot spring inn, it feels more like a restaurant inn where you can also enjoy the hot springs. I went out into the town, but there were hardly any places to enjoy other than inns and hotels. All you could do was stay in the inn and relax.
