Strategic Location with Quirks: A Review of Deview Hotel
Location (5/5): This hotel shines with its convenient location. Nestled near Kek Lok Si Temple, it offers easy access to this iconic landmark. Plus, George Town, the heart of Penang's cultural scene, is just a short drive away. Most tourist destinations are within a 15-30 minute car ride, making it a great base for exploring the city. On-site parking is a big plus for travelers with their own vehicles.
Service (3/5): The hotel utilizes self-service check-in and check-out kiosks. While this can streamline the process, it creates a more impersonal experience. Staff interaction is limited, making it difficult to gauge overall service quality.
Breakfast (4/5): The breakfast spread was a pleasant surprise – a nice selection of dishes to start your day. While there was a minor blip with one fly (perhaps an unavoidable occasional visitor in a tropical climate), the overall quality of the breakfast was good.
Room (3.5/5): The room itself was spacious and thoughtfully designed. However, soundproofing proved to be a major downside. Being on the second floor, I was unfortunately privy to noises from the street, like arguments, and even disturbances from neighboring rooms. This could be a deal-breaker for light sleepers. If you prioritize a quiet stay, consider requesting a higher floor or a room away from potential noise sources. On the positive side, the room was well-equipped with amenities, and the design had a nice aesthetic. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a picture of the room to showcase its design.
Overall: This hotel offers a strategic location and comfortable rooms, but the lack of soundproofing and limited service interaction might be a concern for some travelers.
