Amazing staff, friendly atmosphere, cosy and welcoming. Some very rude customers ignore the very negative reviews, staff are extremely professional and a good laugh. Great selection of ales, and food looks lovely. Fair prices and definitely worth a try!

A day visiting Bakewell and after walking in to and very quickly out of a few other establishments in the area, this turned out to be a gem. Excellent tasty and good value food, , great beer and friendly staff. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommended.

1pm, arrived and parked, (luckily spot in car park as offered to me over the phone) didn’t expect to get in room at that point, just popped in to make sure that the car didn’t get fined. Got sorted fine by the woman who I spoke to and booked with (owner?). Lady said that we could come back and get in at 2. Nice surprise. And was friendly, despite being busy. Came back at 2:45, said we had just arrived to stay. barman (obvious evidence of little man syndrome), said you’ve got 15 minutes to wait. In a rude way. Probably local too, doesn’t get out much? I said, the lady said we could get in from 2pm? He said. NOT A CHANCE (in a rude and dismissive way, then ignoring us !). I said that’s why people don’t come back (under my breath, I’m not here for an argument, I’m on a weekend away). I feel sorry for the landlord/ owner. Just stayed at the bar, the lady (who I think is the owner) did ask if we are sorted, I said just waiting to get in room. She sorted the key and room in minutes. No issues, again despite being busy and staff down. Pub was very busy and food looked good. I’ve no idea why that man works in hospitality! Wow. Room nice. Shower not great. Recommend the Upstairs cafe, Chakra Lounge and Castle pub. They all seem to understand how good hospitality works. On a positive though, the room was amazing, bed comfy, super clean, great selection of diy coffees and teas in the room.

Only popped in for a drink. Drinkers were relegated to the back of the pub by the toilets (from which there was a distinct smell of disinfectant) - all the tables at the front were “reserved for diners” This is not a welcoming pub for a pint Avoid

Just home from a 3 night stay in room 8 which is a spacious lovely decorated room overlooking their outside seating area. The walk in shower was great and held the temperature perfectly. There was a nice selection of toiletries and wonderful fluffy snow white towels. The large bed was really comfortable with good pillows and spotless white bed linen. We slept well every night with no noise at all from outside or the bar down below. The food is top notch with plenty of delicious dishes to choose from and good sized portions. Thanks to the staff who gave us a lovely welcome and went above and beyond to help us enjoy our long weekend in Bakewell. We shall definitely be back to stay with you again. Thanks ladies for all your help on Sunday morning with our luggage and see you again soon.

Love pub in Bakewell. The food was first class. I had lamb shark with red cabbage, brocoli and mashed potatoes, my partner had steak pie with chips and mushy peas. It was high standard, a bit pricey as we had 2 meals and 2 drinks and it cost £49 but that's average these days with price hike. Would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed

We wanted to have a meal and were "welcomed" by the grumpy face owner. Asked if a certain table was available he answered only when its not taken. When my wife asked if the had a round table he mumbled " it's not King Arthur's here". It made me crack up honestly. We booked a table for that evening and first went for a drink elsewere where we strongly got advised not to go to the Peacock for a meal. I thought it was appropriate to not let them know we were not coming 👉👌

Visited Bakewell for my wife's birthday. We stayed in the courtyard 4 poster room for a bit of luxury and a treat for my wife. We arrived a couple of hours early and were met with a frosty, if not hostile, reception from the landlady, we believe. Scowling at us, we were told toby the landlady that check-in was at 3pm. Suitably chastised, we left the car and went out for a walk. We returned at 2.30pm, not expecting to check in, for a drink at the bar. We were told by the landlord that there was no seating for a drink - I promptly advised him that there were plenty of seats outside in the courtyard. I think he could sense out building frustration as he then advised that we could check in - the mood eased somewhat after this. Given the surly attitude that we were greeted with, we decided not to dine or drink at the hotel and chose to visit the far superior Rutland Hotel, where we had drinks. We then dined at Loveage too - a terrific restaurant down a side street. A real find! Given the reception we received throughout, we will not stay at the Peacock Bakewell again - a shame, as its generally a nice place. Bakewell is one of those pieces that's subject to loss of tourist footfall, so I guess the management of the Peacock agent concerned with encouraging repeat business!
