"I was really looking forward to this hotel before checking in. I knew about it because it was featured in Lonely Planet UK, and it's said that Jane Austen stayed here. The hotel staff were very polite, and I felt the hotel upgraded our room. When we opened the door, classical music was playing on the radio, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. The hotel's decor and furnishings were tasteful and had a vintage feel, but it was also very clean. We had a very pleasant two days here, adding wonderful memories to our trip. The hotel breakfast is à la carte, and we tried different breakfasts each day, but they were all quite salty. I suggest they improve that. Of course, if you don't order à la carte, the buffet area also offers basic breakfast items like bread and milk. The breakfast area itself is also very nice. If you're planning to visit Chatsworth House, staying here is an excellent choice!"

"Being in a peak area, this standard is quite satisfactory. The only discomfort is that there is no elevator, the stairs are relatively narrow, and it is troublesome to get up and down large luggage. Breakfast is made a la carte, the taste is much better than some buffet breakfasts, and the service staff are also more enthusiastic."

"My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. The hotel is perfectly located for the shops in Bakewell - including the well-known food shops. The room and the bathroom were both large and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. You pull your car up in front of the hotel and check in. They then arrange parking for you in the car park on the opposite side of the road. Just note that this specific car park has no access most (all?) Mondays due to holding a market - check with hotel. There is another car park but that is about an 8 min walk away. Breakfast in hotel was good."

"Beware .. parked in the carpark for a drink and got a parking fine. Appealed as no clear signage on the tables that we needed to register car. Very disappointed as staff unable to assist with my appeal as said couldn’t provide cctv evidence that we were there even though sat near the cameras. Also said couldn’t get me a copy of the till receipt. Paid the £60 and disappointed I couldn’t get assistance as a genuine paying customer. Won’t be returning."
