We enjoyed our stay but the property is a little dated. Our shower door handle was coming off and the towels were clean but well used. Also the pool water was a bit green.
But the ambiance was nice, as once you go through the lobby you feel like you are in the jungle, yet you can walk to the monkey forest and the water palace and a lot of great restaurants.

Hotel very well located but set back, it feels like you are in the tropical forest, quiet. A haven of peace. Many warung nearby. The people are very welcoming, delicious breakfast. The rooms are spacious and the bedding very comfortable. Tip: take a room with direct access to the swimming pool, it’s a plus

Amazing stay. Gardens and pool area was stunning. Daily breakfast looking over the pool, garden and complimentary yoga twice a week by the pool was amazing! Staff were lovely and helpful. Very relaxing. Loved our stay here and would come again!

Some of the staff were really friendly, some less so. A big spider lived in the bathroom. There was dust on the canopy over the bed and there were holes in the mosquito net.
The location was good and the pool area was calm and comfortable. It was really humid in the room.

I just spent 3 nights at Desak Putera Cottages, and they were wonderful. The cottages are located in the center of Ubud, but they are completely surrounded by a beautiful forest, so it feels as though you are in the country. The staff were wonderful, the price was excellent, the bedroom was large, clean and beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and my balcony overlooked the forest. (Plus the room had air conditioning.) I also enjoyed eating breakfast every day in the open air restaurant while watching birds and butterflies flit through the beautiful trees and flowers. One of the best things, though, is that the staff arranged for a driver to pick me up at the airport and bring me to the hotel, and he was wonderful! I ended up spending 3 days with him, and he took me to many different places that were part of the real Bali, not just a tourist trap. Plus his prices were really reasonable. (Half the cost of a day tour I signed up for on Trip Advisor and far superior.) His name is Wa Pk Dewa Taman (or Mr. Garden), and I highly recommend him.
