This guesthouse is a welcoming retreat from the traffic, noise and bustle of present day Legian. I stayed in Legian in 1976 and the semi-rural community I knew has become built up and brash. But Pujihouse One, with its gracious hosts Agus and Sagung, is a throwback to that idyll. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Its situation in a courtyard with a swimming pool is far enough from the street to diminish the traffic noise. I loved the water feature and aquarium. But best of all are the hosts, kind and helpful. When I mentioned that I missed the traditional Balinese breakfast of black rice pudding with coconut milk, Sagung hopped on to her motorcycle the next morning to Kuta market to buy me some, and did so twice more during my six day stay, over my protests. It is only a short walk to Legian food court, but quite a long walk to the beach.
