Best Ballymena Spa Hotels

I have been to the Galgorm many times over the past few years and have always recommended it very highly to others. It was my first time returning since being diagnosed with Coeliac’s disease. I must say that I was very disappointed in the standard of breakfast offered in the Conservatory. We arrived, and the waitress could not find the separate gluten free menu, and they had to ask the chef - we were then advised that the only items that we could not have were the porridge, and pancakes. We were also told that any of the muffin based options could be substituted with a gluten free bagel. After review, I decided on the full fry - upon ordering we were told that obviously there would be no potato or soda bread - we thought since it wasn’t raised before ordering that there would at least be a suitable substitute. After a few minutes the waitress came back again to tell us that the white and black pudding was not gluten free either. So that was 4 items removed from an 8 piece fry. When it arrived, we kind of expected maybe an extra piece of bacon or more eggs - nope!! After this, I was hoping for a better offering at the self serve buffet - no gluten free muffins, French pastry’s, only 1 cereal - the only real options being fresh fruit or some fish. Very disappointed that in 2024 with approx 10% of people eating gluten free that the Galgorm couldn’t offer a decent breakfast - I’d rather had a cheaper stay and cooked it myself!!
