We stayed at the Luxx Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand for two days. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, the price is reasonable, and the rooms are clean. Rooms: They are decorated with a modern eye but show a lot of age. There are many retained traces, such as cracks on the furniture and cracks on the oil painting frame. They have a comfortable tub/tub area but need another base coat on the shower wall to isolate the shower water. The room was clean, comfortable and had modern conveniences such as sofa, minibar, air conditioning, DVD player, TV and desk. Facilities: Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. A customized breakfast will be delivered to your room on time every morning. While you are staying at the hotel, you can borrow books from the travel book exchange collection area located in the lobby. Staff: Very attentive, welcoming, and friendly. One employee even lent us his own iPhone charger when we needed to charge our IPODS. Location: Located on Decho Road, just behind Silom in the city. We usually walk 10-15 minutes to the Patong Market, night market or Oriental Plaza water ferry. There are various small hotels and shops on this road, which makes people feel safe and enjoy shopping. Price: We traveled here in June (the rainy season) of 2009 (the world economy was in a downturn, there was swine flu, and Thailand was in political unrest (these were not problems for us, but it affected the tourism industry)). The room rate I paid was 2800 baht per night including breakfast and tax. Bottom line: we enjoyed our stay, but if we come back to Thailand we will try a new hotel. Hopefully the owners will be committed to keeping it a good place to stay (they were painting the lobby when we were there and I hope they continue). If the price is good, I think you can enjoy your stay at the Luxx hotel. About Us: We are both in our forties and live in California. We travel a lot in life and continue to take one big trip or two a year. When looking for hotel locations, independent reviews (which is why we upload our reviews to Tripadvisor - please do the same after your trip), and price/value are all important to us. We are not big fans of personal travel (although I travel within the UK a few times a month for work and am very fond of Hilton hotels). We focus on personal tours, adding a personal guide to the sightseeing. I have a business degree with a hotel specialization. I spent 15 years in the hotel industry in San Francisco and California, holding a variety of positions from front desk clerk to vice president of a hotel management company. We know a lot about service, and as people try it, we have real expectations for perfection, to be honest and attentive.
