Barcelona Ciutat Vella 3-star Hotels

I've stayed with this hotel for a number of times now, I would think about 7 times also before covid. The company I work for has also sent quite a few others to this hotel over the years. After this last visit I can say that it will probably not be the case anymore. To be honest, I felt like I was annoying the staff at the reception, it was always with a quick, condescending way that I was given answers. Like I was getting on their nerves. I paid almost 1.100 Euro to stay 1 week. In that time, the phone was broke, my door would not shut properly without slamming it, the room STANK !!! of sewage (I was told because of the pool filter or something and I was directly next to the pool basically in room 721 - the cleaning lady spoke no english so that's the info I understood), the breakfast was not to great standards; never was there bacon, the boiled eggs cold. The coffee machine broke, so the waitress was so angry that she was slamming chairs and saying angry stuff in spanish loudly about how management never takes care of the machine; she dropped all kinds of glasses and plates in the kitchen; then the cook came out and looked at me and rolled his eyes and shrugged (how do people in service actually work like this???) . It was unrelaxing and not worth the price at all. The only helpful and sincere person I met there was the girl at the reception who always asked how my day was, and also the room cleaning lady (the elder one with glasses). I was not even offered ANYTHING in response to having to sleep in a stinking room with no phone. I thought maybe someone would say to me ”sorry about all the inconvenience, have a wine on us” but not even that!! Only the next day I was asked if I wanted to move (I declined only because I was traveling to Valencia for 3 days on that day and I was told that afterwards it would be fixed so I didn't want to move if it would be fixed. But when I came back, only the phone was fixed - the smell was still there and the door I still had to slam). Also, my credit card was charged for a night on the first day of my stay, even tho my company pre-paid the whole stay in advance and it was confirmed. I had to wait several days before it was booked back to my account. At the checkout I was not asked once how my stay was. I would have otherwise told the guy there directly. But maybe he knew I would say something and chose not to ask anything. He was the most condescending of them all anyway. He never freely said Hello or Good bye. Only interested in himself. Horrible person and not sure how he can work in service! When he reads this he will know who I am, for sure. I did not have a welcoming or pleasant stay there this time and next time I and my company will choose another hotel for this or any other stays. If you feel too secure and think you have enough guests, then think again. Covid isn't gone and one day you will be surprised how quickly guests can leave and go somewhere else. I visited the hotel arc la rambla at the end of September for a solo sight seeing trip. The hotel is in the perfect location. Right on the Main Street with easy access to restaurants, shops, the metro and we’ve gothic quarter. Many of the sights are within walking distance including many of the museums. Good mix of both British and Spanish shops and eateries locally. Despite being on the Main Street the hotel is quiet and I had no problem sleeping at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing me with a map of Barcelona when checking in and always available to answer any questions. The hotel room itself is basic but was perfect for what I needed. Double bed, bathroom with shower, open hanging rail and shelves for clothes. Spacious enough to not feel cramped. There is a fridge in the room but was no kettle (as a Brit this was a little disappointing) but I actually realised towards the end of my stay that they do have kettles and you just need to ask. There is a lovely roof terrace on the top floor which is nice for chilling in the sun. Vending machines on a couple of the floors with snacks and drinks if needed but lots of supermarkets just across the road too. The rooms are definitely a 3 star hotel but with the lovely staff and location I have given this 4 stars. Definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay whilst sight seeing in Barcelona.

My family and I have had a great time here and hope to come back. There is a pool on the roof!! Although, they do not serve lunch or dinner they do serve amazing packed - full breakfast in the morning! They have a vending machine and two televisions in the lounge area were you can watch some sport. They have 5 floors and a lift. The staff here are amazing and kind and the clearners give you everythig you need and more. You have a safe were you can put any special items in whilst you are out enjoying spending some time in Barcelona city. Plus, all the staff speak different languages.

Great location just a few steps away from La Rablas and Liceu metro station which can connect you to almost anywhere you need to go in Barcelona. Downside to this is that it can be quite loud during the night which could be an issue with light sleepers. All the receptionists we spoke to were very friendly and spoke good English. The rooms were tidied every day too.

Great location and great price for a nice, clean hotel with friendly, helpful service. Comfy beds and decent size room and bathroom. There is some street noise, but with all windows shut it’s fine - and I would t expect it not to be noisy given the location.

This is a solid three-star hotel once you get inside. The location is perfect, right on La Rambla, close to the squares and near the cruise port. The entry is a little hard to find and sketchy to say the least. There are three hotels that occupy the building. This hotel has three of the floors. You have to go up to the first floor to get to the lobby. They have a great security system and the interior of the hotel, while dated is nice ad clean. The staff is great especially the you man that helps with the luggage. He was working very hard every time I saw him. The rooms were clean and large, and the bathrooms and showers were great. Actually, the room were very large by most European standards. Our room had a mini-fridge and a microwave as well as a small balcony that overlooked La Rambla. A great location for people watching. The breakfast was substantial, and the 24-hour free beer, wine and snacks were also great. The snacks were really meals. Salads, pasta, bread etc. Lots of room to eat, including a large outside area. The price for what they offer is very reasonable and I would consider a repeat visit.

Barcelona was the last stop on a long trip my husband and I just took, so we experienced many hotels. In addition to the location, we loved the attention to detail — the clever owners of Hotel Oriente keep several original 1842 touches, which added to the charm. And though we faced La Rambla and had a teeny terrace, the windows are 100 percent soundproof. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was lovely. Our deluxe room, though sp****ly furnished, was huge, too.

PROS: Staff was always lovely and attentive. CONS: Beds are too hard. I couldn't properly sleep during the 3 nights we spent there. Also, we booked a superior plus room (which as two twin beds). We were given a superior room which has one bed and the toilet in front of the bed. You can not control the lights separately. One switch turns on and off all lights. There is a second switch but that does nothing. The shower doesn't have a proper drain system, so internal canalization smells come up when shower not in use. We had to put a towel over the drain to avoid this. The hotel looks nice but once inside there are small things that take away from could have been a nice place (aside from the bed being super hard). The breakfast was ok and not worth the price. That said, fruit was fresh and yummy. We didn't use the TV but on our last night, we turned it on and there was no connection. I wouldn't stay again here mainly because of the beds, but if you like sleeping on rocks, give it a try.

We stayed for a long weekend in November. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist. The hotel is modern, clean and a great location in El Born. Plenty of restaurants and bars, right in the gothic quarter and about 15 mins from the ramblas. The bathroom had toiletries like soaps, shampoo, toothpaste & toothbrush which is great but we’d taken our own as we didn’t realise. The maid came everyday and freshened up room. Only thing I would say is the walls are thin and you can hear the rooms next door but it didn’t impact us as we are early risers anyway. The rooftop is nice there’s a small pool and plenty of seating, we bought some sangria and pizza the sat on the roof the one night. Would definitely stay again.

Overall, we were very pleased with our 4 night stay at HCC Montblanc Hotel. Upon arrival at 11 am, we were happy that they were able to give us a room immediately, which is often not the case (they have a luggage room if a room wasn't available). Our room, 302, was spacious with 2 twin beds pushed against each other to form a large bed. The room was spacious with excellent counter and closet place. The bathroom was large with excellent water pressure and towels that exceeded expectations. They were some of the nicest towels I've had in a European hotel. On check-in, we noticed that the shampoo/body wash was missing and housekeeping brought it up immediately and also brought the extra pillows we requested. The room's air conditioner kept the room at a comfortable 72 degrees (F) the entire time. Our room rate included the breakfast buffet which we found to be ample with eggs, meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, and a wide variety of breads and pastries. With regards to breakfast, only the coffee was disappointing but there is a Starbucks 2 blocks away, so it was not a big deal. The hotel has a small swimming pool which I used once and was very refreshing. There are lounge chairs and a bar area near the pool. There were 2 minor disappointments with the hotel: One was the lack of fitness room or gym which surprised us. I can't remember the last time I was in a hotel that had a pool but didn't have a gym. The second thing is that the hotel was doing some very loud room renovations that were close to our room. Thoughtfully, the hotel scheduled the work to begin after 10 AM and finish around 4 PM but it was very loud and nearly all day except for a lunch break. Luckily, we were out of the room mostly during those hours and it is probably temporary, but the front desk did not inform us in advance of the possibility that there could be noise, so it was a surprise when it first started and then continued every day during our stay. All of the staff that we interacted with were excellent and during our entire 4 day stay I can only recall one staff member who had a hard time communicating with us since we speak very little Spanish. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
