We booked this hotel to celebrate our 10yr anniversary, based on the reviews and pictures which were amazing! On arrival we were told there isn't a restaurant and asked to pay £8 for a breakfast, I had proof in an email that I had already paid for breakfast and it wasn't mentioned again. We were given a tour and then our key to our superior double room, we were pleased with the size of the room and the 4 poster bed was a fabulous extra we were not expecting. The room was dated and had brown damp stains on the ceiling and down the wall, the facilities in the room very basic, just tea and coffee not the bottled water or complimentary biscuits as mentioned in the welcome pack in the room. We made our way into Bath to find something to eat. The bed was comfy, the 2 single mattresses didn't quite fit the bed so there was a gap at the sides. The shower room was clean but the shower head was covered in limescale and water only dribbled out. When being used by my husband the controls fell off and hit him on the foot when trying to turn it on. When we went down to breakfast, there wasn't the option for a cooked breakfast, just a basic continental with cheese, ham, cereal, fruit or toast. Some dessert yoghurt from the local supermarket were also included. The only person doing the breakfast was the same person who checked us in the night before. The leaf tea offered wasn't very pleasant. We stayed out all day and planned to have a supermarket cafe breakfast the second morning after the first mornings experience. Fabulous location for the centre of Bath the hotel needs lots of updating.
