Bega Downs Motor Inn

Have stayed previously. Clean & comfortable rooms. The rooms I have stayed in could do with the air conditioning upgraded as old & noisy. But reasonably priced. I do like that they provide the facilities to cater for your own breakfast. Plenty of parking onsite. Close to town.

It was the last place available during the Christmas break while we passed through as our original plans fell through and while it was the least expensive option, we got what we paid for (plus the traditional Christmas period tax) - Positives - The service we got was great - it was a simple here is my name - there is your key - Just what I like. The pool was small but popular with the families there and there as well as lots of people outside of their units having great chats with their neighbours. The water was hot and while you could tell when other rooms turned their showers on, the pressure dropped a little but the heat stayed consistent. the rooms were clean and did not smell of cigarettes although there was an ashtray outside our window - Negatives - The AC was probably a late 80's early 90's model and is in desperate need of an upgrade - Sadly it was a really hot night and while the AC was a cool savior in the night, the price we paid was a front seat to an industrial engine droning all night long. I have been to Rock gigs that were quieter than the volume of the AC - But even when I cracked it and turned it off, you could still clearly hear the neighbours jet engines preparing for take-off next door. To say I had a restful sleep would be a lie. The Windowframe in the bathroom was rotted away There was no stopper/gasket in the sink, to which my toothbrush was an unfortunate victim - Swallowed up and delivered to the bin. With that said - we got what we paid for. If you are looking for cost-effective accomodation close to the centre of Bega I would 100% recommend you stay here if its not going to be a really hot/cold night. If you have a few coins extra I'd check out other accommodation and check if they had a more modern split-system. It might give you the 8hrs you so desperately seek!

Bega Downs is perfect for a stop when traveling to the far south coast of NSW. It’s clean, carpet is in good condition and bed was comfortable. Good launching pad with towns like Tathra and Merimbula within 25 minutes

PROS: Great quiet location. Walking distance to the main street where there are restaurants, shopping centre and pubs CONS: The bathroom was dirty and it appeared that someone had started cleaning it but did not finish. The shower and the toilet was dirty and there were no towels. Had to go to reception to request this. We arrived a couple of hours after check in time.

Very friendly welcome. The room was of a good size, containing a large comfortable bed, along with table and chairs enabling work to be conducted. The bathroom was the only area where washing items used for eating/drinking could be washed. Cold water pressure was considerable, making for adjustment of hot water (which took some time to arrive) an act of finessing to achieve an acceptable shower temperature. Guests were, however, treated to a wonderful array of complimentary toiletries. Well located close to the main shopping centre.
