We overnighted with the dinner-bed-breakfast package. The hotel is amazing, situated in a great location to wander, and each of the public areas in the hotel has information cards detailing the history. The room was spacious and superbly appointed. The food was OK and a let down considering the attention to detail in the room and the incredible welcoming service from Michael the porter. The Wolff grill as a room for both dinner and the buffet breakfast had great ambience. Dinner was a set menu with good choices, but the food we found bland and unremarkable. Breakfast had good options but the staff, clearly busy on the Titanic anniversary weekend, were not welcoming or approachable (several times we moved out of their way as they raced between kitchen and buffet, without a ‘thank you’ or even them offering to stand aside as we passed) nor were prompt with taking our order for the hot food or coffee. I asked one waiter at the buffet if there was any sauce and she gestured with a tile of her head and snapped ‘over there’, as if I was too lazy to see it myself. On looking ‘over there’ it appeared it HAD been ‘over there’ but was no longer. Not sure if she replenished, as I didn’t like to check again, We were eventually offered more coffee and I asked for some extra hot water, and am still waiting. The omelette was disappointing (limited to only three choices of filling, two of which were missing in the final product) and the hot food quite bland. I would definitely stay again, but skip the dinner.
