Grand Hotel Menaggio

This is a beautiful lakefront hotel in the grand style in an excellent location at Lake Como. The public spaces and grounds are lovely. The breakfast area, both inside and outside, were very, very nice and the buffet selections and service were exceptional. Our excitement quickly vanished, however, when we entered our guest room. We understood that it would have a lake view, which it did, but the room itself was absurdly small. We had to rearrange the furniture in order to set up our luggage racks and navigate around the bed. Even worse was the small bathroom. You could barely turnaround. The shower stall was about 2' x 2' set into a narrow ***** that housed the sink, toilet and a bidet. There was one very narrow piece of wood above the sink to set your toiletries on. The towel rack broke at one point with next to no pressure. We were quite miserable. We asked the front desk on the first day if they would move us to a more spacious room, given that we were staying for five nights. We were surprised that the room was so small based on the fairly hight rate we had paid! We were told they were full and there was nothing they could do. They did not convey that they had any interest in trying to make things better for us. The customer service at the front desk was apathetic and borderline rude. I can only recommend this hotel for the location and the breakfast. If you can get a large room, perhaps your experience would be different from ours. We will stay elsewhere if we have the pleasure of returning to Lake Como in the future.

I had an absolutely horrible two night stay at this property. I booked the courtyard / pool facing room on the first floor and paid quite a lot extra for the privilege. No one at the hotel had thought to warn me that a wedding would be held Saturday day time through 10pm. The music and MC so loud my bed would vibrate. When I called the reception I was told I could not speak to a manager and the person who picked up the phone told me to wait for the noise to stop. I had an extra early start and no one seemed to empathize on this. Outside of this experience I found the restaurant staff to also lack initiative, I would stand in the restaurant and have to wave someone down to be acknowledged on the two occasions I frequented. The room itself was in decline and in need of general repairs and an update

This was a return visit after many years and I wasn’t disappointed. The hotel has beautiful views of the lake and a brilliant location next to the ferry with access to Bellagio and Varenna in 15 minutes. Staff are lovely and helpful, rooms are large and comfortable, and breakfast is excellent. You can make tea and coffee in the room and buy water from the shop next door. The hotel has a sunny bar and lounge as well as a great pool and outside seating area. Menaggio is 5 minutes walk and a delightful base for exploring the area. My only recommendations are to improve lighting in the bathrooms and get rid of the air freshener. Otherwise it was a perfect stay. Thanks to everyone!

The Property was quite lovely. The staff was outstanding. David the bartender was wonderful to deal with. However the bar needs a better selection of wine by the glass. Big reason very few people go to the bar. Overall we really enjoyed our stay there.

Lovely hotel with easy access to the lake ferries. The back of the property is lakeside with lovely views. The pool is clean and warm, with plenty of sun loungers lining the area between the pool and lake. Breakfast was well organised, with plenty of choice. There is an outdoor eating area if you like alfresco dining. All staff were polite and friendly.

We had a pleasant stay and the staff were awesome. My only comment would be that it rooms could use a refurbishing.

The breakfast was outstanding. Pool area and foyer was well kept. The rooms were out dated. The carpet, at a minimum, should have been replaced with tile or laminate.
