Very comfortable dormitory with a lot of space. A good atmosphere at the coffee and staff very welcoming in general. Good hot bath.

I booked a private 2-person room for myself so that I could sleep without the noise of a dormitory. The futon was actually the most comfortable thing I slept on during my Japan trip. The room was nice and large, I liked that there was a sink and a mirror in the room so that you could wash up at night and get ready in the morning without needing to go to shared washroom. The shared male washroom on my floor wasn't nice, but it wasn't terrible. I didn't like that there's no western shower, just a Japanese-style washing area in the onsen, which is also closed during the day from like 9-4, which is inconvient. I also met another solo traveller here that I hung out with at night for the 2 nights I was here. Staff was friendly and it seems like the cafe on the ground floor is a hang-out spot for local Japanese university students, so it has a nice vibe. Location is great for parking without much hassle (by Beppu standards) and it's close to bus stops and Beppu's nightlife. I would consider staying here again but I'd have to think about how much the no-shower thing bothered me.

The staff is friendly and speaks English well; the place is quiet and cozy, and the location is perfect. It’s almost a distance to Beppu tourist attractions, especially the Beppu tower and Beppu JR stations. The hostel is also located near the port area, where you can relax and take a break. The hostel also has a cafe, a spacious kitchen, and an artificial hot spring. Although some amenities are not included, you have to purchase them at the front desk, the accommodation cost is relatively cheap, so that’s okay. It's a good thing I have my own towels and other amenities. I will definitely be back here when I return.

Simple, but great and not expensive. There was no private bathroom, but in a town like Beppu with over 100 onsen, that's hardly necessary.
